To be fair that guy isn't just some guy on a bike - he IS a dangerous criminal so although the response may of been harsh it wasn't entirely unjustified.

The story doesnt exactly say what happened to end it, so you have to watch the video clip.

Makes a bit more sense reading the story. But still.... I'm not sure wether to say that was a good idea or not. I'm sure they could have dealt with it a little less drastically than that. Confused

Personally, I don't think whatever the biker did deserved a police ramming Shocked It could've killed him or maimed/disabled him for life! He should sue Twisted Evil After robbing a bank he should have enough to get a decent lawyer Laughing

Hi

Seems quite common on the US clips on shows such as "Police, Camera, Action". Many years ago it was rumoured that the police used to do it around Chelsea Bridge.

In the UK they are not allowed to use the Stinger against bikes (and its use is somewhat restricted after a few coppers using it have been injured).

All the best

Keith

I'm with Mr C on this one.

If your going to rob a bank, take hostages then threaten peoples lives with grenades... being knocked off a bike at speed is NOTHING compared to what /should/ be done.

Theres nothing wrong with that at all. should be done in the UK too. If your going to rob a bank and put lives at risk why should we protect your safety and let you get away?

bank robbers = scum and should be shot at first opportunity.

If you have a problem with that then don't go rob a fooking bank!

I definitely don't think this policy should be adopted in the UK. Because if they adopted this policy for the reasons you stated they could easily say that speeding is putting lives at risk so they are within their rights to knock you off your bike! Shocked

utter fucking horseshit

robbing armed scumbags should be exterminated

minor road traffic infringement is a totally different issue - shit they don't even chase you any more let alone risk a ramming, just let the scameras and helicopters deal with that

mind you, if you ARE stupid enough to ride past my kids school at 70mph then I think maybe a piano wire across the road at neck height is justified

just because some wankers and scumbags choose to ride bikes does not make them immune from decent public opinion and justice Evil or Very Mad

Yeah danny but like Mr C said, there is a BIG difference between speeding and putting a loading gun to someones head and demanding cash just before you threaten 2 blokes with a hand grenade unless your given more money and some drugs Rolling Eyes

No need for that. Rolling Eyes

Anyway, my point was that if you are going to ram someone off the road because they are:

then they police could interpret speeding as putting lives at risk, as this is what they think. I was just trying to point out it's a slippery slope.

I think you'll find that they do in fact still chase people for traffic offenses. Although they tend to call off chases more often if they think it's too dangerous.

Mr. C, so you think you should kill someone for riding past a school at 70mph even if it was at 3am?

I agree with you on your last point, although I'm unsure as to what you mean by "decent public opinion".

I see where your coming from danny, but I don't mean to knock off all criminals if speeding is such a big crime, but I mean they should take those measures when it comes to armed robbery, car chases etc for more serious offenses.

But the UK government, well if they shoot someone robbing a bank and kill them, then they wont be able to give them a fine and get more money in their back pockets.

That's the way it looks in this country anyway. Government is too greedy and everyone knows what happens when your too greedy. Won't be too long before something happens about it I doubt. And no doubt chaos will ensue and we'll then run the UK into the ground, the USA will then come save us and then maybe we can have a decent governmental system, as long as that President blokey isn't involved Wink

yes I think we should publicly execute people for riding past schools at 70mph or any other built up area

by peeling off their skin with potato peelers and popping their eyeballs with cocktail sticks

sheesh lighten up Rolling Eyes
