Someone rated your post redundant as they didn't like it and felt it was redundant.

Looking, it seems it was some really bad advice in the workshop section. Sarcastic or not, someone could have taken that at face value, followed your suggestions and ruined their bike. The redundant rating was well deserved as it highlights to a noob not to listen to it. The workshop section really isn't the place for sarcastic advice (unless it involves coloured powerbands, elbow grease or tartan paint).

As for the ratings, they affect your karma rating (i.e. the yellow dots under your name). They don't do an awful lot so don't worry about it but if you swear (a hell of a lot) spell like a tard, or abuse people it will go down to multiple red dots and you could get banned (normal posters wont get banned, it is a special sort that gets banned).

The thing is, his tip wasn't wrong or sarcastic. The Lugs on an engine casing are there for being prised apart. Most people (I would expect) insert a large flat bladed driver and give a twist. I do, and I've never damaged an engine casing.

I got hammered recently for an error in judgement. I didn't take it personally, and God didn't smite me too badly.

It doesn't affect my day to day life... just that I found I had a few thumbs up.... then one thumbs down for what was genuinely my advice.

Now that I think of it... some of the morons out there would probably do a strong man test with the hammer onto the screwdriver.

Oh well, lesson learned Embarassed
