Buff-oon
noun
1. a person who amuses others by tricks, jokes, odd gestures and postures, etc.

2. a person given to coarse or undignified joking.

Boris Johnson.

He looks like a buffoon, acts like a buffoon and sounds like a buffoon, AKA he's a buffoon.

But is he?

I could never make up my mind whether or not it's all just an act, which would make him a very shrewd operator, hamming it up for the camera, while, actually, laughing all the way to the bank.

On the other hand he could just be a buffoon, in which case you have "Biffo the Clown's" half-wit brother as the Mayor of London.

He seems to have been a big hit with the ladeeez, in the past, maybe he's just got a big willy, I dunno.

So, Buffoon or not Question

IMO he's a smart cookie that uses the cover of a bumbling idiot to come across favourable to the public. It's almost fitting that his arch rival should be such a polar opposite

I'd say he is a buffoon, but that doesn't mean he isn't also a shrewd politician.

Yeah it’s probably similar to the career of David Hasslehoff. At first when he saw the fun people were having with his image, on the beach and with his talking car, he didn’t like it.
Then someone mentioned that it could earn him a spot on all the TV shows and people would like him, Ka-Ching! Oh yeah, I am that guy! Laughing

I think that he is a buffoon, but who would you prefer to run The Capital, him or Red Ken?

I don't care, I don't live there, but as far as politics go, Boris and Ken are at opposite end of the political spectrum, aren't there any "middle ground" prospects on the horizon?

Boris is fairly middling compared to how left wing Ken Livingstone used to be. Also Thatcher disbanded the GLC because of corruption, and who was head of the GLC at the time? Red Ken.

I think he's an excellent mayor of London - certainly wouldn't have seen Ken chasing a gang of kids attacking a citizen away on his bicycle!
Now that is public service!

He's also reasonable honest in various matters about "how things work" and we see a lot less large scale dodgy corruption stuff.
If I was in London, I'd vote for him.

Boris is a very smart cookie.

He has probably the best job in politics, and he knows it. You don't get the best job in politics by being an idiot, especially not if you try to come across as an idiot at the same time...
