I have a 1993 Aprilia rs 125, full arrow exhaust, power valve, full engine rebuild (done professionally) V-force reeds, brand new 34mm Racing Carb, new air filter, BR10EG plug, new HT Lead.. basically the whole engine system of the bike is new (Intake-engine-Exhaust) im running high octane and good castrol power1 oil.

the problem i get is a retard in the revvs when accelerating, ill set off in first and start to open the throttle, it really does seem like it wants to rev but its like theres something holding it back(almost like its trying to hard, normally around 6k, sometimes 7k, 8k, even 10k... when stood still revving it is nie at bottom end, its very crisp and raspyy, but when throttle is opened it retards(not bog out) when im riding it i can still eventually push it to top revs, ill pull the clutch in and rev it out and its really bobbly at the top end almost like its spittng and not firing right :/ the carb has 160main jet as stardard and is set to the second(from top) notch on the needle.

the only thing i can think is the carb setup, the ignition advance, the coil is knackerd or the CDI?

Any help would be much appreciated

thanks

Check with Arrow what jetting they recommend for your engine, I very much doubt it will be as standard.

How smoky is it? Could be a bit too much oil and fouling the plug momentarily...?

Yeah but if it had too much oil then I was thinking it may be fouling the plug. What colour is the plug? Have you tried cleaning the air filter and checking for air leaks?

Failing that, it may be jetted wrong, I would think. Don't take my word for it though Laughing

i guess, the plug is a dark brown and is usually clean, i have a brand new manifold and a brand new filter, no air leaks guarenteed, like i said it feels like an electrical failiure because its not a bogging type of fail, its a retard kind of fail. jetting might not be right, maybe taking the jet to a 158 and putting the needle to top notch?
