The oil should've been changed at 500-800 miles after the running in period, so that crappy stuff from the new engine is removed. Besides that, oil changes don't need to be that regular (i.e. every 1k/2k miles is a bit overkill) unless you do a lot of trackdays etc. If this wasn't done, then I'd be unsure about other things on the bike too.
Also, if some of the recent stuff about running-in procedures is true, then the fact that the bike hasn't been thrashed once in a while could mean that it will down on a bit of power. Possibly. ____________________ TiN

Hi
If it has not had the initial oil change then I would be careful. Chances are it is OK, but possibly not.
The oil filter will catch all the rubbish, but the trouble is that as it catches rubbish it blocks up. As they block up they allow oil to bypass the filter (dirty oil is a lot better than no oil for the engine), so it could have been effectively running with no filter for a while.
Also running an engine in for too long will cause damage. The rings will fail to seal as the bores will be nicely polished. This will result in excessive oil consumption.
If it is otherwise a bargain then I might think about it, but it would be quite a large negative point against that particular bike.
All the best
