Picked it up at the weekend. Despite the claims of 'underpowered' and similar in the earlier monster thread I found it mind blowingly quick - it's a jump from 30bhp on my hyo to ~70.
I found it a little high though which affected my cornering confidence so was riding like an american - slow in the corners, blasting the straights. I'll get used to it though... Also need to learn when to put the power down now the power:grip ratio is higher - twitched the backend with a big puff of smoke at 60 on the way out the motorway services and also brought the front end just off the ground when I put the power down on the lean (with a pillion) on the way out of a junction.
Only a couple of problems so far - electrics need work (probably just a new battery, but the datatool alarm seems to be wired in badly) and the oil filter unscrewed itself (partially) on the trip back and spewed oil all over the exhaust so I replaced it to be sure ( I did think the thing when I pulled in to the house though). ____________________ current: ducati monster 750

Lovely machine! 70bhp is plenty to have fun on. Even on my gs500 33bhp is enough to have a hoot on. (I do miss it's prev 52bhp though)
My first choice of bike would be a red or yellow ducati monster, but I hear they are expensive to maintain! |

Nice bike
Liking the highly sophisticated Kevlar webbed, armour plated socks there. Do they offer much protection on the road? ____________________ Check out our tackle shop on Facebook:

Question 1) Is the Smart car photobombing you?
Question 2) Do you ride in just socks?
Question 3) Are they grey socks?
Apart from that, cool. ____________________ My fingers smell of your mum. |

1. As I said, electrics are a bit dodgy and I needed a jump start. So kinda, but I appreciate it's assistance
2. No, as can be seen I was also wearing trousers and a hoodie. Least I've ever worn was some 3/4 trousers and a tshirt (no socks, shoes, helmet), but in this case I was just pulling it into the garage.
3. Yes, but they're not mine. I'm wearing red ones today if you're interested...
4. (As you're bound to ask) That's not my hideous carpet. I'm in a hotel ____________________ current: ducati monster 750

Previous owner did the belts and a full service just before he sold it (even had the old ones to prove it). Doesn't look like a tricky job so I'll do that myself and a basic service is easy enough anyway. It was very slightly late - it hit 7777 on the clock on the way home. But in comparison to the smart it's cheap! (£156, £308 and £349 for services and 7500 intervals)
I bought the monster with the intention of putting the engine in my Fiat 500 project (see sig) but am not sure now as it's in such good condition and so much fun! Any other Ducati riders fancy crashing over summer so I can get a cheap engine? Don't crash too hard though, I want it in reasonable condition
CRF - it's not poo, just wet leaves fortunately. ____________________ current: ducati monster 750
