Hi guys.

I am a student and I am always having to print out loads of notes. I have a canon MP495 and was considering buying some chinese ink cartridges off of ebay.

The printer itself doesn't need the official cartridges as I have used tesco's one although it doesn't show how much ink is left (who cares?).

I was wondering what you thought about buying chinese ink cartridges?

Thank you for any help.

-David.

Get a kit and refill yourself, it's not rocket surgery. I've got OK quality from the kits I've used, they're fine unless you're printing off a lot of porn fine art.

Would not do this, unless you have a cheap piece of crap printer.

I used to refill and remanufacture laser and inkjet cartridges for Cartridge World. The amount of customers we had in that would bring their FUBAR printers to us after they had refilled their own was worrying.

Some cartridges also need a new chip fitting/re-setting or they will not work in the printer. I would take them to a shop that refills them, they will clean the print head on the cartridge (if it has one) and generally do a much better job than if you do it yourself plus you have a guarantee with the cartridge.

It is ok using the chinese ones as long as you can translate what they have printed.
