When i picked my sv650 up from the garage i asked them to give me a valuation on it. it's an '03 plate with 32000 miles on the clock. They valued it at £1650.

Since this is what i paid for it, is now the best time to sell/trade it in?

I was thinking about getting a bike with better mpg as i mostly commute into London. That or the 2012 fireblade which looks very nice Mr. Green

More details on bikes condition, and more details and what you need from ONE bike - in order for peeps to suggest a good compromise that satisfys most of your needs.

Inc budget if it be 1600 - throught to brand new ? Idea Thumbs Up

The Garage said the guide states an 03 bike should have approx 21000 miles on the clock so mine is over on the milage but they said it was in pristine condition with extras like alarm and scottoiler so they would still value it at the guide price. - more depending on the bike i bought.

Features for the new bike - good mpg ideally above 70mpg. Seat height not to be too high as arthritis and a damaged hip means some bikes are a struggle to get on.

I looked at the Honda nc700x which does 70mpg+ but i hated the look of it.

budget £7000 max if buying new, unless bike was truly worth it

Is it cash buy new or finance ?

Also, if your bike is in top notch condition, then IMO - a lamens one, it's worth around 2k as the are popular first bikes and it's spring.

On further suggestions on a bike on here, you can then do the wise choice of buying a mint 2nd hand bike at around 4 k ???

Thumbs Up

oh i see your point - probably be cash up to £3000 - so if a new bike would need some finance.

Didn't think to check the prices for selling privately - sounds like i could get more on ebay etc than trade in.

yep open to buying a 2nd hand bike around that price as thats make more sense than buying new.

I'm waiting on offers for bike suggestiions, i have a few in mind ...

3 K is where decent bikes come in at imo ..

if you can go to 3.5 .. say u get 2k for your sv then even better.

Have you thought about a cheap commuter and a fun bike.

Caus at present, the sv is a good compromise.

tbh just wanted 1 bike. was thinking of a Honda NT700v - boring i know but useful for long rides with plenty of space. The only thing is it will only do 50mpg.

Can anyone recommend a tourer which can do better mpg?
