Hi, are there any insurance companies that often give decent rates to young riders on sports bikes?
Cheapest quote so far is £675 with JustMotorcycleInsurance
Thats for an 18 year old with 1 years no claims on a yamaha thundercat.
Bike is up for sale but If i can get insurance cheaper Il keep it because its just so much better than other cheaper options.

to insure me on a cbr600, ninja, gsxr, r6, the cheapest the bikeinsurere can offer me is about £8k,
thundercat is cheaper to insure because its now classed as a sports tourer

That is really the best of the best in terms of quotes that you are likely to get. I'd snap their hand off for that quote at that age.

Cheaper still would be an old Hornet or something, still a 600 but naked and tends to have cheaper insurance, I know I insured a 2005 SV650S for £400 TPFT at 18.

I assume it's restricted? Wink.

Tried ringing Bennetts?

I was insured for £525 at 19 with 3 years no claims on my Honda CBR 600 F.

Although your's is a bit different, 18, 1 years no claims, £675 sounds fair.

first year no claims, I live in a decent area, but apparently it shares its postcode with the roughest estate in Preston, despite being two hills and a river in the way and in different councils !

My GSXR at 18 was £1500 FPFT, be greatful.

Although I had one claim from 2009.

Although since you say you need it for Uni, time you did what I did and get a different bike. Naked's are generally 1/3 in costs of insurance.

I had no NCB, a claim against me, less than £60 a month on a '51 Hornet.

good news guys, if i can wait a month from when my insure expires (18th), Il be 19 and can get it insured for £550 Smile
Was looking at a naked bike but I'd prefer to keep by existing bike because A) Im use to it B) Think I would get bored or a bandit, er5 pretty quick C) Hopefully won't need to change the thundercat when I can go unrestricted, should be fast enough

A) Where's the fun in that?

B) You'd be surprised. I have much more fun on my Hornet than I ever had on my GSXR.

C) Ah, so you actually restricted it. Probably not worth the hassle switching it out if you're going to keep restricting them.
