just a quick question. if your sat on the bike with the ignition on, which headlight is on. left or right?

on my old 600rr it was the left hand one for dipped and high beam was the right, but on my new one it's the other way around. I cant seem to find anything on the subject via google but to me the left hand one makes sense in the uk.

I have some old paperwork with the bike and as an advisory on an old m.o.t it says the dipped beam is set too high, which leads me to believe the wires were routed wrong under the tank at some point but i'd like to check and make sure before i dismantle it.

cheers guys Thumbs Up

maybe its a european import or something, i dunno.

I have had a fiddle with it tonight and managed to re route the loom a bit, so it's the left that comes on. but i think the reflectors different inside the unit as it doesnt have that clean cut off of light that the right one has.

The sensible thing to do is just leave it the way it was but i cant Laughing , wrecken i have a bit of a complex about it but to me it's just neater on the left Laughing

That's exactly right. You won't get the clean cut off line because a high beam reflector is designed to spread light over as much as fucking possible.

Go back to how it was, the reflectors are different and currently you will light up the trees 50m away but you won't be able to see shit in front of you, on top of dassling the hell out of everyone.

Hope that helps.

I've never had a look myself but I had read that the reflectors are different, but it is possible to get a dipped beam on the opposite side by adjusting the bulb seat.

I was going to have a go at getting both sides to operate on dipped/full.

i adjusted it all the way down using the right hand one as a guide, not been flashed at so i dont think it's causing any problems for other road users, if i do get flashed at just once i will change it back as i dont like being dazzled myself.

i had to do this when i installed my H.I.D kit on my old RR as the H.I.D bulbs were longer so had to pack them back a bit in the holders.

if you want to test it just turn the light on and hold the bulb in your hand with it still inside the unit, then move it back slowly and watch the beam change.
