Well as per the topic i posted about buying my Mum's fellas bike, it has been bought. Just need to flog mine now.

So, it needs a Mot.

Its not been started for 12 months, so obviously it will be needing a new battery.

So I'm hoping it will start on the button. Now its had fuel in it also, so should i just drain this and top up with new stuff?

Its never had its first service, its got 900 miles, so i will change the oil and filter.

The Chain has service rust and the rollers on them are seized, so will lube free them up?

Tyres will these be ok? They are kept inflated and checked over the past year.

Anything else i should be aware of?

Id change the fuel just to be on the safe side. You might also have to clean out the carbs but if there's more then 2 carbs then they can be a real PITA and id try and start the bike first.

With regards to oil, it SHOULD be ok, check there's no white stuff in it and it'll be fine. When the bike is running then you can change the oil and filter.

I don't see why it would be needing a new battery after 12 months of standing. I bought a car that hadn't been driven since 1999 with the original battery in it and that's still going strong now. Just charge it up and see how it goes.

Personally I'm never sure about chains. I know what I would do but I expect to get flamed for it. Personally I'd spray the chain down with plusgas a couple times, leave it for a few hours to penetrate and try to free up some of the links by hand. Assuming they do free up then wash it down carefully with water and let it dry, then lube it up with some oil to make sure it gets plenty of lube (expect fling).

The tires should be fine. As I said, I'm running a car on tyres that are probably from 1997. Check for stress cracking and obviously check for tread and sidewall damage.

I think that's about it.

Wouldn't even bother with the fuel to be honest. Check fluids, Charge the battery and press the go tit. Thumbs Up

The bikes fuel injected so they won't be blocked will they? It runs, just seems a bit stuttery on throttle input.
