Nope.

If you want to ride a moped on the road without displaying L-plates you must take and pass a theory and practical driving test.

Surely they told you this at the CBT Thinking

Reading that was hard.

The only way you can ride a moped without a CBT is if you passed your car test before 1st of February 2001, otherwise you MUST have a CBT to ride a moped.

Once you have taken your CBT and been given a DL196 form/certificate, this validates your provisional motorcycle entitlement and therefore allows you to ride:

Age 16: Mopeds of 50cc or less with a design speed of no more than 31mph.

Age 17+: As above plus 125cc motorcycles up to 14.6bhp.

You are not allowed under any circumstances to ride without 'L' plates or carry pillion passengers. To do this, you must pass your full motorcycle test.

So, the answer to your question is, no.

I don't know if you've passed your CBT or not as "I'm passed the CBT course before few days" doesn't make any sense at all to me, but if you have, then you can ride your Vespa with 'L' plates, both front and rear of regulation size that must be CLEARLY VISIBLE.

If not, book it up and take it, then take your proper test! Smile.

Cheers! Thumbs Up!

That's not quite right - if you have a full car driving license from after 2001, then once you complete a CBT you have full moped entitlement (i.e. no L plates, don't have to take a motorbike test or retake CBT every 2 years). CBT certificate should say that on the back.

For a 125, yeah, L plates and no pillion.

Did you not read the bit below that?

https://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/LearnerAndNewDrivers/RidingMotorcyclesAndMopeds/DG_10016249

Quote:
If you have a car licence...
If you obtained your full car licence before 1 February 2001 you are automatically entitled to ride a moped without L-plates (D-plates in Wales).
If you obtained a full car licence after 1 February 2001 you must first complete a CBT course and obtain a DL 196 certificate to validate your entitlement.

I can't tell from the OP's confusing wording, but if he's already done the CBT, he can ride a 50cc moped without L plates and carry a pillion because he has a full car license.

If he hasn't done the CBT yet, he will be able to ride a 50cc moped without L plates and carry a pillion AFTER the CBT, as this will then validate his entitlement to do that.

TL;DR - Anyone who obtained a full car license BEFORE Feb 2001, can ride a 50cc moped, without L plates and carry a pillion WITHOUT doing a CBT.
Anyone who obtained a full car license AFTER Feb 2001, MUST complete a CBT to ride a 50cc moped. The DL 196 (CBT) certificate will then automatically validate their entitlement to ride that moped without L plates and carry a pillion.

So they don't have to take a (bike/moped) theory and practical test, if all they will be going to be ride is a 50cc moped.

Yes, did you?

In fact wait, what.. Yeah I'm confused too now, have you or have you not done your CBT?
The DSA site is pretty confusing actually. So can anyone who has a CBT and a full DRIVING license carry a pillion?

Lol, i got this of yahoo answers, so you can on a 50cc bike? Tha'd be hilariously slow

"Currently you have a full moped licence as your CBT qualified this on your full driving licence. So you can take passengers on a moped and you won't need L-plates."

If OP is attempting to say that he did a CBT in 2006, then a few days later he passed his car test, I have no idea if he then has a full moped licence.

Giving the OP the benefit of the doubt, if he has a full driving (car) licence and has completed a CBT, I'm assuming his very fast Vespa is code for unrestricted, in which case - he wouldn't have valid insurance on it, making it illegal.
If its sarcasm, because it has a hard time hitting 30, then that is fine.
