I lose my job tomorrow, so I cant even afford a new one Sad.

Donations welcome (motorcycles preferred to corkscrews though).

Being a man with bugger all possessions (I don't even have a fridge) I got a bottle of wine the other day only to realise I had no corkscrew. I managed it with a 3" screw and 4ply card (a folded birthday card). A minor victory Mr. Green

In thailand with a mate who drinks wine all the time. He was missing his wine so we treked all over the island and found 2 bottles of red. I can back to open mine and was told as we didn't have a cork screw we would just have to push the cork in the the handle of a broom. I put the bottle on the floor and pushed down hard with the broom. The cork went in, followed by the broom handle and a high pressure jet of red wine came up straight into my eyes and face. Everybody pissed themselves laughing, but then revealed they'd done the exact same thing a minute before and hadn't wanted me to miss out Laughing

I've had one of these since I was a student. I'm now mid-30s and it's still going strong.

Use a wooden spoon to force the cork all the way into the bottle, has helped me assault my sobriety on many occasions.

Disclaimer: makes cork bits float around in the glass and if you are particularly meat fisted you could make the bottle explode.

going back a few years now, we couldn't find a cork screw and managed to get the cork about half an inch further into the bottle, I just used my little finger to push it in the rest... these days if I was having a bad one I would probably just bite the top off the bottle

He lost about 5ml at most. I think it's a good trick.
