My GS125 drum brakes are dire! How can I tell whether or not they need replacing? When I did my CBT on a CG125 that had drums but they were pretty keen compared to mine. My front is shocking after 25-30mph.

They are just pants unfortunately, you might just need to adjust the cable (more often that you'd think).
There should be a maximum wear limit indicator on the brake in the form of a little metal thing with an arrow, push the brake down and if the little arrow goes past the mark on the drum then it needs new shoes... but it might not line up like its supposed to depending on if whoever looked at them last lined them up properly, only way to know for sure is to have a look, be careful of the dust in the drum if you open it up its could quite likely be asbestos which you do not want to be breathing in Shocked
