Hi,
Just wondering if anyone knows/has/recommends any medium sized tail packs (big enough to fit a 1m chain in)
After the recent purchase of an ER5, i now need a means of carrying my almax to college (and around in general if needs be)

Only decent looking thing i can find is the Kriega US10, but am not too keen on paying £50 for one.

Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated
Cheers

I bought a tail pack from Hein Gericke which fits my large 1.5m chain and disc lock.

I'm pretty happy with and its at a decent price too.

It has two straps that go under the seat so its not going anywhere.

US10 afaik is not 50 - and defo less in grand nik on fleabay. I have one, and when need be use it to carry almaz 3 2m - squire 65 padlock, with a bit of room left if ned be.

The weight means strong bungees are the order of the day. Plastic end ones if you ' like ' your paintwork Smile

You wanna do it on the cheap, easy, nylon bag and bungees inc a net. job done, would have to lift the nylon bag holding the weight . or buy a 10- 20 quid heavy duty nag of sorts Thumbs Up

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the ER5 have a reasonably large under seat storage?
There is a lady who parks next to my fazer occasionally, almost 100% sure it's an ER5 and I've seen her take her lock out from under the seat on numerous occasions.

I'm not too sure...the bike is currently being serviced and restricted and i forgot to have a look under the seat when i went to pick it up Razz

It might be ok if the bottom of the compartment is sealed...my brother's GS5 hasn't got a sealed compartment, so anything you put in that wasn't secured would just fall under the wheel

I can fit a normal thickness 1.5m chain and lock under the seat of my CBR, surely there is room under a commuter seat for a shorter albeit much fatter chain?

I got myself a cheapo tank bag which does exactly this job. Still have 2 other pockets for my phone & wallet too.

ER5 rider here Smile

Under the seat is about big enough for a phone, wallet, keys, and a sandwich. MAYBE you could cram a chain under there if it isn't too bulky.

I also just got a cheap tank bag from Lidl for about £25 or something. Does the job great - I keep a portable lock in there, along with all sorts of things. Doubles up as a ruck sack too so can lug it around with me Thumbs Up

I was thinking about getting a tank bag, but was a bit worried about the chain possibly denting the top of the tank.
I'll have a look around a few places when i get the bike back Thumbs Up

I can fit my alarm box, a 1metre chain and a disc lock in the seat of my ZX6. Where as with my old GS, you'd be lucky to get the bloody disc lock!
