Hiya all.

A quick query and diagnosis from you experts please! Basically my R6 gearbox has become a right pig of late. Problems:

Drops out of gear every so often,
Getting to first at the lights from neutral can be a pig,
Changes from first to second and second to first are a bastard,
When downshifting it seems to bounce lots before engaging,
Nasty sounds because of the above.

Shizer, reading that back makes it sound like my bike is nackered!

Is this a fundemental problem like nackered chain and sprockets, or is this something more terminal? Bearing in mind the bike has done 25000 miles.

Cheers.
Cougs.

Change the oil, and try a fully synthetic.

Old oil makes gearboxes feel awful selecting gear, and the R6 box is notoriously notchy.

Wise man say:

Its very important to check the tension of the chain, too tight and the 'box is notchy too loose and all sorts of strange gremlins can occur.

Ah so. Karma

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Both mine where simular! 1st - 2nd is the worst of anybike I have ridden!

however after a full service and fully synth it was smooth as hell. That was until I changed the rearsets and messed up the shaft changer postion!

Try checking that, as if it lose the shift wont move as well as it should!!
