Whats the deal with it and motorcycle's, I usually try to park in multi-storys because i just drive under the barrier and there are no fee's.

But today I had to park in P&D, i got a ticket and put it under the windscreen and when i returned it had gone. Either blown away or stolen.

So what are the rules when parking a motorbike.

In Cardiff the street parking is Voucher Parking (rather like Pay and Display), and I asked a Traffic Warden for advice, and his surprisingly sensible answer was that they do not expect motocycles to display vouchers because they can get blown away or stolen so there is no point in them paying.

I would assume that this can be said for any pay and display area, there is no way to prove or disprove that you purchased a ticket (except in Bristol where you have to punch in your Registration Number if I remember correctly).

In Putney they have a system where you txt in where you parked and they bill you automatically. But in many London boughs parking in pay and display areas is free anyway. Smile

In our borough the traffic wardens have no control over bikes, they aren't allowed to give you tickets Very Happy However they can get the Police to move you...

I just tent to find a pavement and park it on that Smile Obviously it isn't in anyones way because it's a big pavement Wink

Hi,

A conversation with a local Traffic Warden told me that as long as you are in a bay (car park or on-street) then you do not have to pay. You can however receive a ticket via post if you are on double yellows (towed\lifted away even).

You cannot park on a pavement. You cannot block access\footpaths.

Maybe it's a Scottish thing but most of our multi-stories have dedicated free parking areas for bikes. Anyone else got that???

Hope this helps

Mark

Yes most of our carparks are free for bikes, and in my experience the ones that say that they charge never bother anyway. Very Happy

Try the new Lidl carpark... round the corner from the university, not *quite as close as old Halfords - but far less likely to have your bike pushed over/scratched/kicked.

The multi-storey doesn't charge for bikes either, though I rarely use it... too much trouble going up and round and up and round.

All of the NCP car parks in Lincoln say bikes have to pay. I normally park under the University Library as that’s where I’m heading most days. On a bright day there can be upwards of 6 bikes stuffed in a little space meant for push bikes.

The one in the centre of then city. If you are coming in from Tesco, head up towards town and bear left towards the university, down to the traffic lights by Barclays, straight on, then left at the next set of lights and it's the big one on the right.... Hope that's some help.

Alternatively there's the pay and display along the side of Bute Park.

I got told by a warden that if you park in a car space they expect you to pay, but if you park in a bike bay or out of the way you don't have to pay.
