I was speaking to the guy that bought my NSR today and he said his insurance company were asking him to prove the bike was infact restricted. He asked if I had any documents saying that it's restricted but I've not and my insurance company never asked me for anything like that. The bike is restricted though. I think he said it was Zenith Insurance he's with. I said I'd give him a call if I could find out. Anybody know what he needs to do?

It's a 125, it's restricted automatically so he doesn't have to prove anything to anyone Very Happy

Tell him to go to another insurer, I've never heard of insurers wanting this - you'd think they want your custom! Plus if a claim is made if it's derestricted without the correct licence it would invalidate his insurance anyway so I'm not sure what they're worried about.

The bike is sold as restricted and there's no way to prove otherwise unless you take it to an official Honda garage for them to take a look - which it far too much trouble. He could probably get a cheaper quote elsewhere though it may be a job for Danny!

Tell him to ask the insurance company what specifically they want as proof, I'd be interested to hear what they want.

Thanks for the replies guys. Seems a bit odd I thought too. Probably best just going with someone else.

He said they wanted him to send them a certificate before he could get insurance. Confused

...But you don't get a certificate when you buy the bike to proove it's restricted. Confused
Get him to ensure they know it's a 125, rather than a larger machine that needs the 33bhp restriction in place.

So if he takes it to a garage what is it the insurance company want them to do? Are they to test ride the bike and say its restricted or have they to physically remove the carb and exhaust to see if its restricted? Confused
