Not usually one for the advice bit but would like a few ideas before commiting to the one in my head.

Currently ride K7 GSXR750, been riding for most of my adult life (30+ years), raced, winning races and championships, even the I.o.M. (didn't win there lol).

Feel like I'm at a bit of a crossroads. The gixxer is an ace bike, set up to suit me and given the road I can ride it pretty much to its limit (honestly). So what's missing?

It's not having no mates to ride with, hang out with a good group. It's not missing a good blast, do that plenty on the roads and trackdays and enjoy it but the problem for the last year is there is little or no buzz, why's that then cos bikes have been my main hobby for years.

Been down the supermoto, cruiser (even a Harley Embarassed ) naked route, don't like 'em. Had a classic (too much polishing and talking bollocks with other old blokes) I'm a sports bike man.
Don't want a 4 cylinder thou, ridden 'em owned 'em not as much fun as the 750 even so where to go?

Do I just stick with this bike and hope it comes back and take on board that I could possibly be a miserable moaning old twat who doesn't know when he's well off or go out and spunk 15k on a Panigale and risk feeling the same. Opinions gratefully received.

I go up to Squires quite a bit, if you see me there (Black Gixxer 750, Knackered black and yellow Buffalo leathers) please give me a kick up the 'arris and tell me to man up.

OGR

Get a smaller bike, you might have more fun ragging the arse off it. Maybe a 2 stroke? RS250 or something?

I would not call biking a hobby. After 30+ years it is a way of life - it is in the blood far deeper than any hobby could ever be.

After riding road bikes for years I started green laning then enduros.Nowadays it is more of the former than the latter, but I still do the occasional enduro.Maybe it is time for some fun in the mud

Put bikes on the backburner for a year or 2.
Dare you.

yes, I agree with that. Went from a busa to the street which is so much more fun. If you like sports bikes, what about one of these for giggles

What this man said. For me it was only about fifteen years of road bike experience and I was getting sick of them (pretty much every job I had since getting a license involved riding bikes though, which didn't help.)

Getting onto a dirt bike again after many years off made me realise I hadn't fallen out of love with riding bikes, just the type of riding I was doing. Get a decent dirt bike for a grand, give it a go and if it's not for you sell it again for what you paid for it. They make riding fun again Thumbs Up

Get a jetski or a boat. Get bored of those then go back to your true love! Thumbs Up

How far have you gone with the setup on your k7? shock replacement/ forks oil?? Im interested I have the same bike and about to blow some cash on suspension this yr in an attempt to improve the harsh/jitttery front and occasional 'pogo'ing rear. Do tell

Why not take up life in the slow lane, rather than the fast lane, where you seem to have been for a while.
Get yourself a trials bike, it's certainly a challenge.
Could go even slower and look in to pre '65 bikes, I'm guessing even more of a challenge.

Trials looks so much more scary than riding a sports bike to me. I guess on a sports bike you never have far to fall Laughing

Imonster, Sid, Fizzer, got a Beta 250 trials bike. Did a few events and basically I'm crap. Cold, wet, dangerous can't get into it.

Swiftb38, not too far K6/7 is pretty good as it is for the road. Just careful attention to sag, tyres and pressures, fresh fork oil + 10mm, setting up the 2 speed damping on the shock, found it was too hard on high speed compression and too much spring which affects the front, yes it would be better with Ohlins or Maxton etc but would that give me the buzz? Don't think so. Fitted rear sets with solid pegs, that made more difference cos you can feel what's happening and get a good position. Also have a boat, good for an outdoor shag with the wife on a sunday afternoon but it's not a bike.

The small 2 stroke thing is quite appealing. Got a 350 race YPVS in the garage all ready to go, on SORN but still got the V5 etc. Daylight MOT, bottle of Castrol 747 strapped to the seat hump, prop it against the wall at Squires, mmmm.

There you go then, I read the OP and my immediate thought was you need an RD400/350LC, until I looked at your sig.

I would probably have gone with something more standard, for the sake of reliability, but if it's sitting in the garage, fire it up and get out there.
