Just normal searching through Ebay has brought up the Kawasaki Z750 several times extremely cheaply. Just wondering is there something about the model that is off putting or to be ignored. This includes these two below by the way;

Normal Z750

I don't see much point in bikes like that which would be good for commuting and longer distances, but which lack wind protection.

Haven't seen mike mention this bike before, unless its in a thread I don't visit also prefer the look of old bikes to new bikes for example.

Oh dear Laughing The new Z750 looks nice, the older bikes look quite gash. The only old style one I'd ever consider is the ZRX1200

Aesthetics are entirely subjective.

As to the OP, they're two different bikes. GT750 in the first link, heavy old shaftie with a reputation for being pretty much bulletproof. Getting long in the tooth now so not as reliable as they once were. The second is an actual Z750, older bike again and an entirely different frame and suspension set up.

The Z750GT is from the period when bikes were often daily transport so more consideration was given to genuine comfort and utility. Nowadays virtually all motorbikes are yuppy toys, so are made to look prettyish.

In the dim and distant past people would buy their own flyscreens or fairings. Factory faired bikes were at the time pretty rare.

I don't agree with that at all. Bikes are still used as daily transport by thousands of people.

As said earlier, the GT750 isn't a Z750.

There was a Z750 twin Sick waste of air time
Z750 4, chain drive sporty job,
and the GTshaft 750 (and a 550 as well).

The shaftys were the favoured choice of the courier brigade alog with the CX500/650.

I had a GT750, loved it (but that was when I had an RD250 as well) Laughing

It's probably because the focus is on the bigger engined versions, which are seen as bit more sexy, but the bigguns are creeping up in price; a good GPz1100B or an ELR will set you back a respectable amount of wedge now, once the supply really dries up and they go stratospheric, folks will set their sights on the smaller bikes.

I think it will be a long time before GT750s are getting really strong money, but the chain drive Z probably represents pretty good value at the moment, in terms of 'classic' bikes.

Get one while they're cheap, it's a strong old tool, with decent parts supply and they're a pretty good introduction into the world of old big bangers.

I agree the new ones are nice. I almost bought this:

They're massively popular in France apparently, and no-one really knows why. I saw loads of them last time I was there.

Its there on the DFT website, you can get a list of all registrations since the early 90s, and other bikey stats since the late 40s.

im confused at how, how often (daily) a bike is used affects its styling?
should manufactures build a nice engine and chassis then send it to the styling department and say "hey can you make it look crap so yuppies dont buy it" ? Confused
