I went to see it last night. Wish I'd not bothered. It really is an awful film. I'm all for a bit of violence and gore but it is over the top in this film and does nothing to further the story (of which there is precious little anyway). Half of the 'characters' are completely mysterious, one guy in particular seems to just appear and disappear at random. Mary seems to be very young to have a 30 year old son.

The subtitles annoyed me, even tho there is very little dialogue. Yet the lack of subtitles for entire scenes also annoyed me, as I felt that I was missing out on a something cos I don't speak Latin. Rolling Eyes

There are some very silly bits in it at the end too, I really did feel wrong for laughing out loud at this film after the gore that had appeared beforehand.

So - its starts off boring, then it gets very bloody, then goes boring again. Oh, and there are far too many crying women in it.

All in all - Thumbs Down

Go and watch 'Dawn Of The Dead" instead if any of you are planning to go and watch this movie, I was rather suprised as it was a lot better than I was expecting. Thumbs Up

Smile He he. I like the bit when they're throwing 'Dire Straits' records at the zombies. Only 4 more days to go \o/. Another film I wouldn't mind seeing is that 'Secret Window' with Johnny Depp. Thumbs Up

The passion of the christ pissed me off.

Mary was the correct age. The idea of the immaculate conception would have made her about 14 or 15 when she gave birth to jesus, back then people had lots of children early on.

The Latin pissed me off. The pronounciation was all wrong and americanised. At least from what I could tell the Aramaic was on. They tack on the wrong last line though, and the "oh father why have you forsaken me" line used the wrong Aramaic.

The jewish temple was set up entirely wrong as well, and when Jesus died the temple didn't fall down, all that happened was that the curtain to the inner sanctum tore down the middle. In the film they didn't even have the curtains.

Entertaining, but wrong in many ways. Does tie the 4 gospels together nicely thought, and its much easier to piece it together watching the film instead of ploughing through the bible.

Purely for entertainment value, was an excellent film I thought. I do not care about the religious undertone. As a film it was very good, I like the ending too. If you saw him flying through the air like neo then it would have been a mickey mouse cartoon.

Just come back from seeing it! It's not rubbish as some people suggest but it is Mel Gibson's version of the Gospel. I imagine the brutality shown was how it was two thousand years ago. I thought he did not go enough detail as to why the Priests and the Jews wanted Christ dead.

I did not like the fact that Jesus was portayed as almost Anglo Saxon, whne he was probably more semitic looking and as he was a Rabbi at the time he never was wearing a headcovering which was 'de-rigeur' for Jews at that time. He also took some fairly stereotypical images for Jews, and made them out to be a blood-curdling mob.

He also tried to incorporate too much symbolism into it, with some weird guy wandering around without explaining who he was.

Overall I'd say wait till it gets on Channel 4 - they won't show it on BBC/ITV!

lol, sorry I've meet so many americans that don't even know where South Africa is even though I could probably tell you Minnesota is Laughing

As for he movie, take note that it was designed to get a reaction (pos. or neg.). So it's not suprising that so many people don't like it. Personally I havn't seen it but I wouldn't mind.
