Go to go out today for my first proper ride on my new bike, as picked it up on Saturday but have been working since then.

It's a 2006 GS500F, 15000 miles but with the restriction kit, as I'm on A2. Anyway, really pleased with the bike, just right for my commuting journeys but enough poke to have a bit of fun with it when I get the time.

Had a great day today in the sun, and took a couple of pic's. Still trying to decide on what to do with the silver fairing as ideally I'd like to either spray or vinyl wrap it black (the previous owner, a girl, removed the original fairing decals, and replaced them with a few 'Tribal' stickers Sick . Those have obviously been removed but I'll have a think about what to do with the bare silver fairings.
Also want to stiffen up the front suspension soon when I have the money.

But anyway, chuffed with the bike, and a few pics below;
(Yeah, I know the subframes twisted and the power band is the wrong colour Thumbs Up )

Thanks for the comments, appreciated.

I think I can get the fairings wrapped for £100, so leaning towards that at the moment rather than spraying. That way, there's always the option to put it back to stock (although at £200+ for a set of stock decals it's not something I'll be doing!).

Your bike looks amazing for a 500, I want to upgrade to a big bike from my 125 and I've been looking at a lot of faired 600 and 400s for insurance but never looked at a 500 because my first search just showed naked older style bikes (I'm 21 and like fairings lol) but your bike looks so good that I just had a search on eBay and insurance websites and a gs500 is now top of my list. Thanks for sharing. The bike would probably look good all black but it looks quite nice with the silver in the second pic.

Nice looking GS! I had one but it was 10 years older than yours so yours looks MUCH neater! The front suspension on the GS's are notoriosly spongey, a set of more progressive springs will set you back around 70 quid but a great addition to the bike Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Looks like a nice bike. Seems a good compromise between a boring commuter, and a sports bike. Thumbs Up

I think it looks quite nice as it is. It could look a little bit bland with all the fairings black.

My pal is a sign writer, he's making me up a full set of decals for my 98R1 (Stock decals).
If you are wanting to go down the route of original stickers, depending on how complex they are, my pal may be able to help out. Thumbs Up

I agree with full black though. Don't like that silver much. Sick

Do you spy on womens locker rooms with those x-ray eyes of yours?

Btw bike looks tidy Thumbs Up

Are 500 twins justified in emulating sportsbikes whilst 125's are not Question suppose they can at least regularly achieve speed to make practical use of the fairings.

Thanks mate, a very generous offer! However, I'm not sure whether to stick with the original decals or go for something a bit different?

This was how it would of looked originally;

https://i1125.photobucket.com/albums/l586/richtea70/KGrHqFosE8Vffrj3DBPWl1bCZ6g_12.jpg

I think I would like to keep it predominantly black, with maybe silver Suzuki decals.

Jordan - yours looks like a lovely example, how come you can't ride until April 2nd?

I think it would look really nice completely black, with white decals. Depending on how long you keep it, may as well make them personal to you; do a design you like! Smile I'm a big fan on black and white colour schemes Laughing

Thanks! I'm waiting on the CBR's (pictured) insurance to run out first so that I have a years NCB to use. At my age that makes a big difference to the cost.

I passed my tests back in September, and I've had the GS since the 3rd of March, what's a few more days Laughing

On the other hand though, it's given me loads of time to fit an alarm and phone charger to the bike Thumbs Up
