Hey all,

Looked at a Yamaha YZ125 today, '93 ex-motocross bike, not in great condition and the rear shock is completely knackered. The guy wants £400 for it...is it worth that much?
How reliable are they?, and do they have YPVS? (this one didn't, I thought they all had YVPS) - Still the guy told me it has 48bhp Laughing *cough*

Also, I can't find anywhere that stocks parts or rear shocks for this bike, does the YZ250 or DT125 shock fit?

Thanks,

Matt

Well it's a fairly highly tuned motorcross bike, needing very regular rebuilds. If it has its rebuilds it should be reliable, if it doesn't it'll soon go bang Razz

BTW 48bhp isn't that optimistic... I'd expect around 45bhp.

Confused never new a yz125 had that much power but they are highly tuned as you said and require regular engine rebuilds. I had a go on a honda cr500 2 stroke crosser which was an absolute beast, the front would lift in any gear. Any idea how much power a cr500 2 stroke has.

I've heard somewhere of 100bhp for a CR500, I don't know if thats with any extra tuning though so don't quote me on that.

Hi

Don't think the CR500 has anything like that much power. Nearer 60hp I think. Mainly tuned for stupid amounts of torque.

All the best

Keith

A 125 will be 38bhp.

GP125's are less than 50bhp.
