 |
|
On this roundabout, if I was approaching from the A30 (south) and wanted to exit at the A30 (3rd exit), would I need to indicate and what lane would I need to be in?
Street view: https://g.co/maps/7j9rt
Birds eye view: https://g.co/maps/7zn69
I think I should approach the roundabout in the left lane, then once on the roundabout position myself in the middle lane of the roundabout, then once past the 2nd exit indicate left and shoulder check and then turn off back onto the A30.
Is this the correct way of doing it?
Looking at it from a birds eye view, the 3rd exit is actually past 12 o'clock, so I'm not too sure about it. |

Roundabouts tend to get their own local flow - especially sparsely marked ones like this. You should learn what the local traffic does assuming you're there often.
I used to take this one from the A355 heading straight (2nd exit) onto the A413, despite the expected behaviour to be left lane no one did that and often got shirty when I did.
In your example - to take the third exit you can take either 'lane' and I'd probably head towards the right, with a careful indicate / look and move to the left straight after the second exit.

If I had to negotiate that roundabout, I would take the lend hand lane with no indication and after crossing the second exit on to Madron road I would then indicate left to signal my intention of leaving the roundabout.
Essentially, it's the same as a 'straight across' exit just very slightly further around.
If you think about it, if you approach in the right hand lane and try to come over, you could end up cutting someone up who is trying to go from Madron Road to Nancealverene when you exit as they may pull onto the roundabout thinking you are going further around the roundabout. ____________________ "Four wheels move the body, two wheels move the soul."

This is the roundabout layout according to this road sign on approach which does make out like it's past 12 o'clock, so would be a right hand lane approach?

this round about is right outside my house locals will approach in the right hand lane to go straight on so if your in the left hand lane your gonna be cut up, so I always approach in the right lane. left is only used to go to madron or roscadghil (1st 2nd turnings) by locals
hope that helps |

Just do what everyone does over here:-
Spot a small gap in the traffic flow.
Eyes closed, then WOT, off the mark.
Don't bother with indicators, (they're for wimps).
If you haven't hit anything, before your exit, always ensure you cut up at least one other vehicle when exiting.
Roundabouts are a relatively new concept here, (in fact I can only think of one that doesn't involve a motorway exit), it's not unusual to see someone trying to navigate one the wrong way round. ____________________ "Everybody needs money, that's why they call it money!" |
