Whats the deal with renewals and such?

Reason I ask is that I was insured with hastings and last year my premium was around the £160, I got my renewal this year and its gone up to £260... Called them and they couldn't change it or make it better so after a look on bikeinurer.com got it for £145 from dial direct.

awesome.

today my wifes insurance renewal just came through, £225 with dial direct, last year was £130.. so back onto the bike insurer and who comes up with the best deal all round... hastings in at £120.

seems bloody stupid that an insurer that was cheapest for me last year is now one of the more expensive ones yet have given my wife the best possible quote, and vice versa .

thoughts on this?

i understand them hiking the price as no doubt their will be a huge ammount of saps out there that just let them run and dont check, so they probably make more cash this way.

my concern was that hastings have gone from dirt cheap last year for me to one of the more expensive and now dial direct is the cheapest... and for my wife its exactly the opposite, dial direct were cheapest last year now one of the more expensive ones and hastings is cheapest for her.
