Today I test rode Versys 1000 for about 10 minutes at bike shop.
Comparing with TDM900, I felt
Seat was wider and a little bit lower.
Body was bulky and heavier. TDM has narrower body.
Handle bar was a little bit wider(like DL650/1000), and more upright
(just same as mine with bar riser).
Screen wasn't that small as I imagined, but couldn't test wind protection at high speed.
Engine had far richer bottom end torque than Z1000, and of course than TDM. I'm not used to 1L IL4 power and couldn't full throttle it, but of course it had more power than TDM. I forgot to test power mode switch on the left grip.
Yes this may be good if you want a Z1000 with adventure style and upright position but I just felt IL4 engine doesn't suit adventure style riding position. Cruising on that riding position while listening IL4 engine note is strange.
And handling I always felt it heavier to start to move. It's like ZRX1200. And it was totally different from Z1000 which is light to start to move.
Quality was cheapish everywhere compared to TDM. Sorry to say this but recent kawasaki models usually have cheapish finish quality except top end like GTR1400 and ZZR1400 or SS models.
I can see "cost down"s. I don't want to see it on expensive models. Versys1000 is not cheap! regarding finish quality, I can tell Z1000SX is better than Versys1000.
Look at these bolts. I hate these finish like 125cc.

Overall I realized I like twin better than IL4. ____________________ own:2020 Serow 250
