Well I bought a new bike last night. Suzuki GSXR400R GK76a. Smile

https://www.proximacore.com/Transfer/gk76a.jpg

Bought it from Sash for £1700. Mechanically sound. Nice little bike and looked after well. 19,000Kms on the clock. 1990 model.

Still got to pick up a gasket for the scorpion exhaust as it was changed over the other day for it's MOT and needs a new one before it can be refitted.

Been out briefly on it today through town. Yet to take it out to some big strech of roads. But from what I've done on it so far it's a lot of fun. I'm assuming it's only going to get better when i get it out on the open roads.

Well i just thought I'd share this with you all.

P.S. I stole your avatar sash, hope you don't mind. Razz

Yeah I'll be out your way for a run pretty soon. Just hope the weather picks up though. It's been raining since I've had it.

Done the DAS in the last week of last month with the test being on the 1st of april. Maybe it was an april fools joke and someone forgot to tell me. Wink

Sad Sad Sad Sad Sad

How nice is that pic?!! *sobs quietly*

(Of I course don't mind you stealing it Prox, It was my fav one - taken by my own fair hands)

don't suppose you could make me a new one??!! as I'm useless at that kinda thing Embarassed Embarassed

I didn't think you'd be able to resist taking it out without the scorpion on.. Razz .. but believe me it makes a huge difference, I had no love for that standard can !

*still sobs, some one pass the tissues!

Aww there, there. *hugs* You'll get to see it again I'm sure. I'll take good care of it. Have you got a pic of your VFR? I'll make you an avatar if you like.

Just back from my first proper ride on it. Took it out to the twisties on the way out and then on the motorway on the way back. It's alot twitchier than the NSR going round the corners. Probably just the fact that it has acceleration now. Also it might be time to invest in some knee sliders. The bike leans over quite well and the pegs are well out the way compared to the NSR. So I can see me getting knee down pretty soon.

Speedometer indicated 135Mph on the way back on the motorway and stopped comfortably just before the redline in 6th. I'm guessing that's more like a true 120mph. Probably for the best it doesn't get much faster that that. Was so paranoid that the police were going to be round every corner. Riding around 100mph felt so relaxed though. Especially when I've been used to riding a restricted NSR before.

I really need to get the Scorpion put back on as soon as possible. It sounds naff without it. Need to buy a gasket to get it fitted still. Would exhaust tape do the trick by itself or would I be far better getting the gasket? How much of a performance decrease did you notice when you put the standard can back on and rode it to my house Sash?

Was just about to ask if that was Sash's bike then i read the last 2 replies. Aah well, least you have the VFR400 to play on, what made you change? Was it seeing James's (jimmys) bikes?

Of course it was in good condition ! Laughing

(Bit embarrassed I delivered it a little on the dirty side Wink but these things happen)

And on the topic of the standard can, to be honest, and perhaps I shouldnt be Rolling Eyes I really didnt like the ride over with the standard can, it was a completely different bike, there was a distinct lack in power in all the places I was used to it - the carbs are set up for the race can ... and it sounds horrid Evil or Very Mad I'll be going to Alvins during the week, pick up my new KBC helmet whoop!.. so if you need me to pick you up a gasket?!

120 !!! Don't be telling me stuff like that !! Shocked Laughing
You'll find she falls on her nose at corners very quickly, Stu was forever 'borrowing' it to run down the coast road.

Craig, my main reason for swapping to the VFR400, other than it being a bargin!.. was that its alot smaller in size than the gixxer and so its alot easier for me to move around on.. thank god for that as I hate to think what would've happened to me on friday when a lorry ran a set of lights *shudder*

ProX, Can you just take one of the decent (with fairings!) pics of the vfr frrom my site?! as you already seem adept at that..*hugs*

Ah...take it I missed your post!!!

Well congrats on passing the test. How did it go?

I passed mine on the 18th March.

Bollocks passing then having no money to buy a big bike. Never mind, get one at the end of the month!!!

Oh, and watch your speed on the roads at the moment, I don't want to have to come down and help you find pieces of your bike!

Take it easy.

Mark
