This motorcycle has at some time in the past been declared as “Category B Total Loss Claim” & thus subsequently been “rebuilt” & put back on the road.

I thought a cat B was never allowed back on the road?

If the bike has passed a safty test it can be put back on the road, it should come with docs to this effect from the DVLA / testing centre.

Hi

Now a cat B cannot go back on the road. It is suitable for spares only. However you used to be able to legally put a cat B back on the road.

All the best

Keith

The reply:

Thank you for your e-mail,

Motorcycles are not required to go through any checks by us at VOSA
when
they have been written off to allow them back on the road. As far as we
are
concerned all you would need to do is reapir the vehicle and register
it.

Regards
Mark

The VFR750's were nice looking machines, the only thing with this bike for me would be the psychology of riding it. If anything didn't feel right or I heard a funny noise, I would convince myself that the thing was bent or going to fall to pieces.

I think to realistically look at buying something like that you would need to be really mechanically genned up.

Hmmm.

Not sure I would want to ride a Cat B write off.

You clearly haven't seen Danny's GPZ. Laughing A Category B write off would be a step up.

One of the big problems with a cat A/B write off is insurance, you can't get it unless you fail to disclose the write off notice and then your commiting fraud.

Someone down in Bexley tried to sell me a written off cat A GSXR11N with a damaged frame and got very pissed when he found out it was only worth scrap value as far as myself and the insurance company was concerned. He didn't know when he bought it years before and tried to harrass me into buying it.

Have an accident on a Cat A/B write off and you may find your insurance is null and void.
