Seems all my former work mates were successfully evacuated, part in thanks to the chopper crews bravery who were willing to land on a gas enveloped platform.

If Elgin had gone up it would have made the Deep Horizon look like a birthday candle in comparison.

So good to see all off safe, but the downside is expect a price increase in natural gas as no Elgin production reduces UK by 25%

Some are getting on a bit, but regular maintenance keeps things ticking over, but yeah, they all have potential to go up. Horizon was a deepwater well, producing oil, Elgin is a deepwater High pressure rig ( up to 200bar) producing gas, hence why I say we got off lightly that nothing sparked it off.
