My friend is after a CBR125. He wants something that will hold its value but also he just wants something that looks nice.

He's looking at this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2005-55-HONDA-CBR-R-125-RW-5-Modified-/170813714213?pt=UK_Motorcycles&hash=item27c54a6f25#ht_1186wt_1185

1) Is it worth the asking price?

2) Will it hold its value do you reckon? Or at least be saleable for around the 1,000 mark in a year?

Cheers guys!

Quick scan of eBay shows that one to be roughly in the middle range of prices. Some cheaper, some significantly more expensive. As a 125, should easily get rid of it for £1000 - provided your mate doesn't completely fuck it up.

However, as the majority of people only use a 125 as a stop gap, might as well spend less and get hold of a simple CG or YBR, definitely get back what you paid for it. And little to no fairings to break when dropped.

Stealing Tef's posts,

db

Edit: Also, it looks fucking ugly...

1. Probably a bit more than dealer price let alone private. A paint job and extras shouldn't add to the price of a standard one and it's not mint "There are 1 or 2 clips broken on the fairing that are now fixed with colour coded zip ties"
You really need to see it first to see what it looks like in the flesh but have you also factored in the 800miles round trip to get it to Leeds?

2. Possibly depending on how good it actually is.

Mods look nicely done. (Nicely done, not nice)

But IMO the less stock a bike is, the less it's worth to the majority.

I bought my 57' CBR125 will less milage than that for £1,700 and that was completely stock.

Over priced IMO.

Makes you wonder why he had it resprayed. Im guessing it was dropped or something.
Its also overpriced a hell of a lot. I got a 2005 cbr125 last year for £960, just because someone put some new mirrors, exaust and a tail tidy on it shouldnt justify that sort of price.

Tell him to get a stock one at a better price, plus full respray always screams its been down the road more than once to me.

Modifications = massive ball ache to insure. It's a 125, you ride them until you pass your tests.

Or until you leave the country in his case!

Anybody selling or know anybody selling an NSR125?

We just spotted one but sold Sad

Failing that we've spotted a plain and simple black CBR.

I paid £1250 for mine, and I reckon I'll make it back when i sell it.

And mine is a lot nicer imho! Most likely going to be a different colour on log book, theres loss of value there.
Ball ache to insure because of modifications as said above.

Go for something bog standard if he wants something that will hold value and look nice.
