ok here goes, hello everyone first off i have recently (yesterday) sold my car and decided i am going to do my bike test, i am 19 years old and have my cbt booked tomorro which i have already done when i was 16 and have had motocross bikes all my life, nearly, i am booking my theory test and lessons tomorro for next week sometime and hope to have my mod1 and mod2 done by june ready for turning 20, i dont intend on having a 125 when i pass my cbt so i have been looking at the usuals cb500 sv650 600bandit (my first choice) gs500 600divvy etc etc and now i have found a kawasaki zzr 600 on ebay resonably priced and 98model it looks very clean just had new chain, sprockets front and rear pads and tyres a service so oil changed etc new air filter and oil filter ... BUT the bike has 39k miles on and apart from this i love it how it looks etc but this is really putting me off as its on ebay and i will be buying without viewing as auction ends tonight, i have been reading reviews on this model bike and all of them say that the engine is very sturdy and reliable and all in all seem a great bike, can someone give me some advice please,
many thanks, Jack |

the ZZR600 is a really great bike for 'doing it all', you are right that the engines are indeed very strong, but like always this is dependant on the quality and quantity of servicing it has had in its lifetime - what i am trying to say is that 30,000 + miles isn't really much at all if the bike has been well maintained, just ask about service history and check bike specific forums to see if there are any 'known issues' with the model which you can then use to question the seller.
ps. good luck for your test(s) |

If you jump at the first bike that you like the look of, with no service history, without viewing it and without a license to ride it, then you should fully expect to be raped in the wallet.
And please don't pull some dick move like bidding on it and then pulling an "Actually mate..." There will be another bike just like it or better along tomorrow, next week, and next month. You'll get the bike you want when you're ready to ride it.
Take a deep breath.
