RS125 - Telling when you need rebuild

Unfortunately I cannot find anything in my handbook about when the last top-end rebuild was. Is there any way other than that to know when you will need one? Would doing a compression test, recording the PSI give you a hint?

PSI less than 100, I'd rebuild.

Look for around 120-130psi.

Any idea when the bottom end was done.

Mine was done and 1000 miles later my main bearings were eaten

I main bearing seized about a month ago (no oil was getting to bearing). Got that fixed up and bike is back running. Just, want to know when to expect a top end failure. I've ordered a PSI gauge of ebay so I am hoping the PSI is a good indication rather than just keeping track of the mileage.

Out of interest, how do you deal with seizures? I mean, I was lucky it seized when I was going in a straight line... Noticed I was drifting, pulled clutch and that was that but what about going round corners.

The guy that I did my test with told me on his 2 stroke he kept 2 fingers on the clutch at all times.

Keeping on the clutch is silly.

Just warm it up before you start giving beans and it will be fine.
RS I think its 8000km top end rebuilds? Just remember every 5000 miles its time to get buying the bits.

Shit can and does happen, piston may catch the PV and wreck it.
Also you'll possibly need a new barrel.
Then a gasket set Bastard things
