Last sick day I had was when I got pneumonia (or some form of infection from working in a pet shop), 10 years ago. Laughing I'd be pissed off too if I lost that track record.

Part of me doesn't like being off work as it shows weakness and the other is I'll be getting my copybook blotted. IIRC absence points are given, with Mondays and Fridays being the worst days. Typical.. Rolling Eyes I'm on holiday next week n'all. [Grumpy face]

In this age of "working from home" it's about 7 years since I've been off-sick. If I get a cold I may work from home a day or two to avoid passing it on. Last time I was off I had flu and was properly bed-ridden.

I ain't got a good track record for being off sick recently, lost almost a year in the last 3 in total... mind you I'll put that down to my heart condition and the bloody DVLA saying I'm not allowed to drive.

Mind you, I have gone into work with a really bad dose of the shits (ain't fun keepin' it clenched for up to 5 hours at a time while driving a bus), although the best one was still driving with a broken finger... Or when I needed to get stitches when a can ripped the skin between my finger and thumb and because of cash handling I got a really bad infection...

But I take 6 months off and because I can't tell them what the NHS wouldn't tell me... they sack me.

Come to think of it, before I got married I never lost a single day throughout my career.... must have been close to 6 years without a day off.

Last sick period I had off was in May 2010 after twisting my knee something rotten, had a month off, but I live in a 3rd floor flat, so was housebound, and the weather was scorching hot for the entire month. It was like that episode of the simpsons when bart breaks his leg in the pool and starts going crazy from cabin fever, although in my case there was far more wanking.

I haven't had a day off ''sick'' in over 20 years. You just get on with it when you work for yourself.

You know you're really sick when there's no signs of life at all in your knob and you can't even have a wank.

Done me back in is the diagnosis.

Something went ping in my lower back so from experience it'll be ok soon. (Hot bath and brandy tonight) Years of mauling didn't stand me in good stead when Big Red decided to tip sideways. Was putting it onto a Motoboy and tried to save it when it went.
Big Red has a new scuff.

I needed help putting on my underpants.

I once made the mistake of taking Immodium when I got the squits. Should of let it run it's course as the 6 days of no poo caused me more discomfort than the squits and vom.

I'm on £500/yr attendance award which would drop to £100 if I go off sick.

I would, therefore, drag myself in (or take a day's holiday)

My company knows I'm indispensable ( Cool ) and are willing to pay me.

I'm now waiting for the girls to get back so I can issue kitchen requests.

I think I've had more sickdays in the last six months than I've had in the last ten years put together, as I've had two bouts of pneumonia within three months.

I went permanent in October and immediately took three weeks off sick. Since then, I've probably had another month off sick altogether, plus several days working from home, when I haven't felt well enough to go in but the work had to be done. I think this week was my first five-day week for several months.

Luckily, (a) I'm known as a hard worker, (b) I was genuinely ill, (c) I was obviously ill and (d) the big boss had had pneumonia before so knew it'd take weeks to get better and in the meantime, you're pretty wiped out.
