Hi guys. Just had an MOT fail for my 2004 sv650s.

The guy said my headlight beam was too low. And then he said he tried to adjust it but he couldn't, and he thought perhaps something's broken so he couldn't adjust it. He said he had no idea how to fix it!

Do you reckon he's just being a pleb and couldn't work out how to adjust the headlight aim on one of the most popular bikes in the country, or am I going to need a whole new headlight setup? £££

Thoughts?

Cheers
Duck

Is the bike lowered on the front forks, could you pump the front tyre up, is it the right front wheel and profile tyre?

Thanks yen_powell, but I think the guy is just a retard. I went out armed with a screw driver and fuck all else and I've managed to find - in about 5 seconds - how to adjust my headlights. And I know nothing about bikes.

I can't figure out how he missed it. The whole headlight casing is quite clearly moving up and down when I turn this screw I found, and it has plenty of travel either way (ie it wasn't all the up and couldn't go any further).

Bit pissed off with the guy now, gonna have to waste another journey to get the free retest. Then I'm never going back again.

Both sides are independently adjustable so I would make sure they are both at the same level and pointing just slightly below dead level, should pass then.

One of the first things I do to a bike, well all 3 so far is to upgrade the bulb(s) and take it out at night armed with whatever I need to adjust the headlight aim, never had 1 fail its MOT.
