'lo BCFers

Having managed to get the RVF's engine and all that running, I might as well put the rest of the bike back together.

Unfortunately during its extended sleep there is now a ton of crap in the tank. It's mostly sediment from the 3-year old petrol I had in there which has long since evaporated.

Flushing with hot water managed to get a load of it out, however I can still here it all slushing about, half of me just wants to attack it with a pressure washer and blast it all out and the other half says to fuck it off and just buy a 2nd hand-er off eGay

Thoughts etc?

Ta
Tim

Check my GS rebuild thread. Robby did an acid strip on my tank, and it's worked wonders. You will get some serious foulness falling out of it, though Laughing

Not sure how you have worked out a second hand one won't have the same crap in it? Might be a case of 'better the devil you know'?

In this order is what I did.

Put stones and nuts (metal) in the tank and pressure wash whilst they are in there.

Rinse and repeat a couple of times.

Let it dry or just swill out with petrol to prevent rust forming if it is a steel tank.

I did the exact same as The Artist with my CB125 petrol tank. Difference is it's only 6 litres and your RVF is around the 15-16 litre mark i would say? Laughing
