I'm wanting to change the top yoke on my bike, to hold clip-ons rather than the stock bar. Something that think would look alot better.
But only way I can see of doing it with out it being a complete bodge job, or locking them on the forks under the yoke, is getting the part custom CNC'd.

My current top yoke is this one which is made for normal bars to be attached through the two black holes:
https://s1.postimg.org/ks8ucnam7/image.jpg

What im wanting to do is remove the holes completly and add some width to the sides, something like this:
https://s1.postimg.org/aeclx5f9b/Extend.jpg

Then on the extra bit add something like the bit from this to keep the bars raised high enough to put them near the stock height:
https://s1.postimg.org/fr1gba35r/lsl_offset_high_clip_ons_triumph_thruxton_bonnev.jpg

So it'll be something like this sort of shape in the end:
https://s1.postimg.org/lcnvfc3un/Clip_on.jpg

Sorry about the crappy paint diagrams, does anyone know:
1) Whether this would work
2) whether there is anyone that would take on a small custom CNC job
3) A rough guestimate on what it would cost.

It is usually the other way round.

Why did you not buy a sports bike? Laughing

What bike is this for? If its the suzuki I would look at other models and see if there is a yoke/bars that will swap over. Suzuki are usually pretty good for this.

As for getting something made its definitely possible but probably cost prohibitive.

I went looking for a newer sportier bike after my Deauville at the begining of last year, and was looking between either an SV650 or my GSX650F.
I did like the SV but they've always looked half finished to me cause of the "missing" fairing panels.
So went for the GSX, which I do love, and they agreed to such a stupid low offer by me i'd have been silly not to go for it.

So I want to keep the bike but possibly change the top to the clipon style that i like.

Might be worth checking specs on those forks, likely different but full faired SV Wink

Curiosity but if you are trying to make them almost the same height (and I'm guessing almost same position) as the stock bars then why bother? Seems a lot of hassle for something that will be mostly cosmetic.

It is purely for the cosmetics, I just prefer the look of clip-ons is all.

It would probably cost you a few hundred quid to get a one off like that machined. What is it made from?

I thought clip ons attached direct to the forks?

That would seem the simplest option - on the stanchion, under the top yoke. Blank off the holes in the yoke with some blanking plugs or chewing gum.

May lead to some clearance issues with the tank though.

EDIT - Ignore that because OP wants clip ons same height as standard bars Eh?

It would be easier to buy a set of ace bars:

Don't see the point in doing that for cosmetics but if it's what you like then its what you want.

I'd think about losing the attachment things for the clip ons in your 1st post though. Get a tope yoke made with similar mounts as the ZZR600 then use these from a ZZR. Seems like less to go wrong.

https://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh504/wr6133/images_zps9090a7cf.jpg

End result hopefully would be bars looking similar to this ZZR

https://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh504/wr6133/LPIC4956_zps5d602a82.jpg

Still though seems a lot of effort. Would be easier to just sell the current bike and buy a sport tourer with raised clip on things as standard.

I have to agree, it really would be more sensible to sell the bike and get something that appeals more. It's not like the Bandit is unique or really special; not many bikes can boast those characteristics.

Don't forget even when you get your custom top yoke made, you may find other things don't fit, or clip ons hit the tank at full lock or the controls don't fit onto the clip ons.

Bikes aren't lego. You can't just attach different parts of one onto another.

I knew I'd get a lot of buy a different bike with them on already, but I love the bike ive got at the moment, and dont want to sell her.
The power/speed is fine for me at the moment, and despite what others think of the bike I think it handles really nicely (Definatly better than any of my previous bikes)

Was just curious if it was even possible and/or cheap enough to just have a try at doing it my way to see if it even worked.

Have seen a few people online that have tried putting the clip ons below:
https://i789.photobucket.com/albums/yy176/TheBronxBull9/119434c0.jpg

And some that have put them above the yoke, but this requires changing the possition of the yokes on the forks to make space for them:

Piece of cake to machine up a new top clamp to your design. Figure about $1600.
