Hi guys,

I'm going camping with some friends in New Forest in Hampshire in August. My friend recently got back to biking and we got talking, and suggested we should take the bikes there instead of travelling with the others in the cars.

Now at first, I was doubtful. I have a scooter which only does 45mph at best and has a small fuel tank. However we've got a route sorted out that aviods motorways and we're all set.

The problem is, being a scooter, it can't really take that distance I don't think. Also, it's Chinese, it WILL brake down.

I was just wondering if anybody knew of a company that would cover me for 4 days in the UK only that would recover me if I break down and also the cost of repairs?

Thanks in advance!

I can't think of anyone who does short term breakdown cover.

If you can afford to pay for a recovery up front, then Auto Aid is £38 a year. They'll arrange recovery, you pay for it (e.g. on a credit card), then claim the money back from them later.

They seem to think that the policy doesn't cover motorcycles under 150cc, but there's no such limitation in the actual policy document which forms the basis of the contract, and remember that you'll be arguing the toss from the comfort of your sofa rather than at the side of the road.
