seen this in a local dealer:

https://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/uvl/popup.jsp?currentaction=searchresults&e2w=27048&sort=5&did=27048&partner=TMG&postcode=po198tt&dropdowntype=uvl&configfile=https://dealerservices.autotrader.co.uk/dealers/27048/27048_template27_config.xml&max_records=200&e2w=27048&miles=1500&csslocation=https://dealerservices.autotrader.co.uk/dealers/27048/27048_template27&id=201209452801058&distance=3

doesnt seem overly expensive after looking at similar models on ebay and autotrader.

will have to see if has any MOT should do coming from a dealer ...i would of thought

and will have to see if the girlfriend approves as she'll have to sit on it too!

Go in and haggle to 1400 if you want. Looks alright, mileage a bit high, check for history.

What's wrong with ibakes's Ninja?. Newer, good extras, just over 1/3 of the miles.

So that would rule out a vanity plate then....

So that bike is well over priced for its age.

What?

A T suffix is 1978 yes, but that's a prefix which would make it a 1999. So yeah, it's 13 years old. I paid £1200 for mine in similar condition with 19k miles privately, but it had lots of extras. So I'd say give that one a miss and get a better deal privately!

I recently bought one with similar mileage from a dealer, for around the same price. Mines a year newer, on a V plate.

You'll need to buy a new rear seat if it doesn't come with one, because that has a cowl on it. Oh and my misses doesn't mind the ride on the back, but she said it isn't really comfortable for very long. Personally I don't like taking passengers on the ninja, but she is only tiny so isnt so bad.

You'll need to check for MOT, tax and the condition of the consumables. You'll also want to get some insurance quotes, because they aren't a cheap bike.

Personally I'd be having a look at ibake's ninja first. It's newer and has some good extras on it. Fair enough if you decide it's not the one for you, but at least you'll get to see it in the flesh and ask some questions, I'm sure he won't bite your head off. Hell if you were closer to me you'd be welcome to come have a look, play and ride on the back of mine to see what you thought.

Laughing you daft prick,

T123 ABC = 1999

ABC 123T = 1978

Almost drowned on my coffee laughing at that, does it look like a 1978 bike?

does seem quite reasonable from a dealer, as said above, I think you could probably get him down th around £1400 which would make it a pretty good deal.

ok license i got a cbt when i was 20 last feb i turned 21 in april did a DAS in july and now have one years no claims and a full clean license Smile

1400 should be doable and maybe trade my bike against it? my xr 125 might mean i part with very little cash at all

quotes have been a bitch so far! cheapest ive had is over 700 tpft

and I saw the other ninja you mentioned and would be within budget if I could PX

In my ideal world though i'd still be getting a cbr

Don't get a ninja if you're not going to be happy with it. Wait it out and just deal with it until a bike you want comes along.

However, the ninja is a great bike as long as you value speed and looks over comfort Cool

CBRs are silly money at the moment. I kind of think of them as the 3-series of bikes. They hold their value well but there are plenty of cheaper alternatives available. But those bikes aren't CBRs.

There are 12 year old bikes up on BikeTrader for 3k and the sellers have the gall to use the phrase "bargain"

coor, 2 people recommending my bike in this post again Smile many thanks.

As its a J1 you dont sit over the handel bars too much and is actually quite comfey, the missus was happy on the back too for long rides.

however get the bike you want, but please make sure you dont waste people time, i missed out on a couple of hours with my daughter last night waiting for you. Sad

still get to play a bit more now

Well the G2 is faster. Honest Cool

Pretty sure it has the exact same seating position as the G2, but definitely more comfortable looking that the newer ninjas!

You do like you're overpriced bikes don't you.

Seen plenty of them with 30k miles for £1200 odd. I'd hold out until you find something you want and stop asking for advice on every bike you find.

If you want a cbr, get a cbr?

There is such thing as public transport. 4 hours I had to endure on Sunday to pick up my new bike.
