Hi guys,
Just recently purchased an old, not working KE125 to fix up as a project.
Everything is going fine but there is one thing i am unsure of. It is a 2-stroke and the oil that is fed into the engine is also used to lubricate the gears and clutch. There are a few outlets on the carby and the oil pump, and i dont know where they lead to... the only hoses that i am familiar of are the ones that lead from the fuel and oil tanks into the carby and oil pump. All i need to know are what these outlets/inlets are and where they lead to. Any diagrams that you could use to explain your answers would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance Smile
Frank.

The 2 stroke doesn't lube the gears. There should be a filler cap and lvel screw on the opposite side of the engine to the carb which will need gearbox oil/10w40 oil.

when i was on another thread i read that you fill it up with 2-stroke oil and that gets fed into the engine. someone also told me that there is an oil inlet on the carby. huh, that just makes me more confused. does that mean you just mix 2-stroke oil with the petrol and put seperate oil in the oil tank? and would you also know what the other inlets/outlets are on the carby and oil pump? i was looking at a diagram of the carby for this specific model and there was only one tube that was called 'carby breather tube' or something like that. what is the function of this?
thanks in advance

This is correct!

There should be a pipe that runs from the oil pump to the carb.
There should be a pipe that runs from the petrol tank to the carb.
Any other pipes will be over flow pipes.

As Paddy said, you are confusing 2 stroke oil with gear box oil.
They are two, totally, separate systems

The oil tank contains 2 stroke oil, this oil is pumped into your carb, where it mixes with the petrol, this mixture is sucked into the crankcase and then sucked into the barrels where it is ignited etc, etc. Because the petrol/oil mix goes directly to the crankcases the 2 stroke oil part of the mix lubricates the crank, big and small end bearings.

Is the oil pump, on your bike connected?
If it has been disconnected then you will have to make up a petrol/oil mixture, (premix), and pour this directly into your petrol tank. You will have to Google "premix" for your bike to find the correct ratio of 2 stroke oil to petrol.

The gearbox has a separate supply of engine oil, there should be a filler cap/dipstick and possibly a sight glass on the engine case. Fill the gear box with whatever oil is recommended for your bike. Normally the service intervals for replacing gear box oil on a 2 stroke are around 20 to 30k miles.

If you are making premix you do not put any 2 stroke oil into the oil tank.

DO NOT PUT 2 STROKE OIL INTO THE GEARBOX AND DO NOT PUT ENGINE OIL INTO YOUR 2 STROKE OIL TANK!

AHHH! Thankyou! My friend who owns a KD80 who just took out the oil pump (similar to ke80, just smaller than a 125). yeah i know all about premixing 2-stroke oil and all that to lube crankcase ect, i was just confused because i had multiple opinions from different people. I think im going to take out the oil pump permanently because it drains a little bit of power from the motor to run (it's driven by the motor). Im just going to premix the oil and fuel. First time i run it i might make the mix 1:25, and afterwards just 1:40 (i read that 1:40 is ok). But yeah i also read multiple times to put 10W-40 transmission oil in the crankcase so i think ill just stick with that. also, a quick question, on the clutch the pushrod is extremely hard to push to engage the clutch, am i supposed to loosen the screws on the clutch plate? thanks heaps (especially Sustan Sid)
