Hai.

These them there then Maxxis tyres are cheap. Like the budgie. Reviews seem ok too.

£135 for a pair in 120/180 - Anyone used them?

They even look alright.

I'd leave well alone. Totalled the best bike I've ever owned/ridden because of one of these.

Had them on my TLR1000 when I first bought it.
Didnt really mind them, but then again, I didnt really ride it hard until I changed to the Pirelli Supercorsa Pros.

Had the Supermaxx Sports on my YZF450 too.

Put it this way, they were good tyres to learn how to back it in, purely down to the lack of grip they offered. Laughing

I will be honest, I did a track day on them, and they were pretty poor, until they heated up.
But then they would overheat, and offer no grip again!
But, I cant see them ever getting that hot on the road to get to that stage.

Offered grip for enough lean angle on my supermoto;

And enough grip to pick the front wheel up mid-corner too

https://a4.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/230750_10150173609220606_506045605_6740236_1236620_n.jpg

If you are considering wet riding, I'd save yourself the bother, and get a different make of tyre though.
They're lethal in the wet.

Had them on my GSXR 750, took them off after 2 days and put some proper tyres on. No feel from the front, crap grip at the back, really weird feeling on corner entry.

Like was said earlier 50/50 love hate, I hated 'em.

Reckon I had similar lean on my DR600 with trail wings or similar on original trail wheels - enough for me to get my knee down anyway and it wasn't on the limit of traction.

The Maxxis block pattern supermoto front I had was terrible.

Ridden a 650 Bandit with one of these as a front tyre. Grip seemed ok, but i couldnt tell when it was gonna let go or what it was doing.

Found a Diamond review (road & track).

https://www.visordown.com/motorcycle-news--general-news/maxxis-supermaxx-diamond-road-test/17477.html

I reckon I'll give these a go on the Blade next time seeing as they do a 130/16 front. Thumbs Up

The review asks what more do I want from a tyre?

Well, I'd like good grip in the cold/from cold tyres - which it seems unlikely he's tested in the Algarve! Not an issue if that's where you're riding so much, of course - but in the UK it's a big factor for me.
Whether it's because I'm using it for commuting or have been dawdling behind a police car and the tyre has cooled, I still want decent grip.

these threads will never give a definate answer, tyre choice and feel / feedback is entirely subjective to the rider and their preference, what one bloke loves you may hate.

Of all the bits and pieces working on a bike, it all goes though those two rubber contact patches, why save money there?

Especially if you like a spirited ride....

This is true, but there are some peoples opinions on this forum that I would trust, enough to warrant trying them based on their experience.

Because they might be good tyres, just not universally recognised yet, because they're a relatively unknown brand.

After a very spirited ride came to a small set or corners and very nearly lost the bike completly pulled over thinking i had a flat and the tyre was'nt cold but was'nt exactly as warm as i was expecting.

Now use Supercorsa's or Raceteks Thumbs Up

Price does not necessarily equall grip.

The grippiest sportsbike tyre I've had was also the cheapest, that being a tomohawk remould at £45. Didn't last very long though.

I've used the maxxis on both my old MZ supermoto and on my VFR750.

In fact, I still have one on the front of the VFR and just had an awesome, high-speed ride out through some of the twistiest roads the Highlands had to offer at the weekend. Behaved itself very well and I was pushing it pretty hard at times.
