I find with every bike I get I get bored pretty quickly.

I have had an XJ6 Diversion F since November, and have put 4,500 miles on it since then. I've lost all but about 10mm of my chicken strips and feel the bike has given me just about all it can.

I test rode an R6 for a day recently, did about 250 miles on it to get a good feel for it, and now the XJ bores me even more... going back to the XJ afterwards was like going back to a 125 after being on the XJ.

Of course, if I were to buy the R6, I'd only be bored of that and wanting an R1 within 6 months, and then bored of that, or dead.

Am I just stupid/crazy or do others find this too? What's the cure?!

Don't test ride anything so you won't know how awesome other stuff is Wink

I am bike hunting this year, I don't get the enjoyment from my FZ6 that I used to. I fell into the same trap as you, I went to test ride a Daytona 675 and fell in love with it, and now I really want to change my bike!

Thinking about it, I have kept this bike two years, which is longer than I've ever kept any of my cars! I normally change cars once or twice a year.

On average, I seem to keep bikes for no longer than ~3 months.

Which means I'm on my....42nd bike at the age of 27.

The only bikes I've kept for longer than this period due to them being damn good are Suzuki GSX-R1000 K2, Honda CB-1 400 and soon to be, my Honda SP1.

I have the same problem, but instead of getting rid I have decided to get some shiny bits for it, mainly the new exhaust and now I'm not so bored of her now, just a little deaf

Its still got plenty to give. You should hava NO chicken strips Laughing

Perhaps you need to get more enjoyment out of the ride, not the bike you use.

I go through stages of boredom like now. So I booked a TD xD Learning to wheelie will be my next boredom stage until I crash and I'll just quit life.

if you still have 10mm of chicken strips left then the bike still has more to give you yet, go and push a bit more and see if it gets you more interested again.

Had my current bike for nearly 15 years now so I guess I'm not bored of it yet (although I've considered buying a newer model).

I'm more of a keeper, I do a bit of research, pick a decent car/bike and stick with it for a few years. I like my CG125, so I'll probably end up hanging on to that for a few years. Previous owner had it for 12!

I avoid researching/driving/reading about things I can't afford or wouldn't be sensible... and try to be happy with what I've got Wink

The real answer is have more than one bike. Get a CG125 and commute on that for a week, you'll love the Divvy again afterwards.

Heh, I had a YBR as well for a bit but I couldn't stand riding it to work for more than a day then sold it....

Maybe part of the problem is that the XJ was never the bike I had my heart set on, I love the new CBR600F but insurance is £2.5k....

And Rogerborg, I'm already 30 next year I have no desire to get older!!

Thats my next stage. learn to wheelie, then buy a nitro car to smash up.. possibly by a dirt bike to tear around on for a few hrs until the police come and tell me im doing something illegal. and thats basically it im done then.

adios

Generally get bored after a year. Adding new bits helps. I'm certainly not one of those people that name their bike/car and get attached to it Neutral It's a tool at the end of the day, not a person.

Nobody has mentioned the elephant in the room, so I will.

You are riding a 600 divvy, they make a virtue of being bland.

I had one as a courtesy bike for a week once and couldn't wait to get rid of it. It didn't do anything wrong but equally had absolutley nothing to recommend it. I couldn't wait to get my GPZ500 back which was neither faster nor more powerfull but was an order of magnitude more entertaining to ride.

I did the 2010 Round Britain Rally on my 350 Bullet. 89 landmarks, 3 months, 9,500 miles.

Keep your day to day transport relatively 'dull' but economical and dependable, then get a toy that scares you a little for the occassional weekend hoon,

Alternatively, go riding to explore the country rather than to be riding your bike, go adventure riding and touring and get kicks out of seeing amazing places and camping etc. rather than going fast, and keep the speed work for track days

Haha, but are you meaning the new XJ6 or the older XJ600? They don't share much other than the name "Diversion"!!

I had an ER-6f before and got bored with that after 4000 miles or so as well :/
