Hmmm,
I really wanted to like this bike, simply because I'm so sick of the sight of BMW GS'sand I'd like to think that this bike would rattle BMW, but for me at least, it didn't.
Having ridden both now, I have to admit that the Beamer still has this category nailed, and it all comes down to the engine.
The Triumph just felt too highly strung and frenetic, which is great in a sports bike, perhaps even a sports tourer, but in this format, it just didn't feel right.
I think in a tourer (which let's face it, is what this class essentially is), you want to be able to make rapid progress, but also feel that the engine is making light work of it, which the BMW twin achieves and sadly the Triumph doesn't.
It just feels like it's having to work very hard all the time, and I found it quite tiring.
My brief 10 mile test ride was enough.
I wouldn't fancy riding one from Calais to the Alps.
Just my opinion of course.
The mags rave about the new Trumpet.

using extra power to make up for lack of ability then? Wink

I think you've been watching too much long way down, just 'cos you're going further than the local shop it doesn't mean you need a GS adventure bike with metal panniers and colour matched textiles with your initials on. Quick progress on road to the alps? Honda blackbird, VFR 750, hayabusa etc.

Engine on the GS I rode was like a jackhammer Laughing

Well as far as I'm concerned they're choosing the wrong tool for the job on the basis of a TV show. However a sportsbike is perfect for Rossi impersonations Razz

There can be no doubt that the TV series turned around the fortunes of BMW, but that's what product placement does.
Nothing wrong with that.
That's what racing is all about at the end of the day.
I mean these factory's don't spend millions on it for a bit of a laugh.
They do it because winning races enhances their image and increases sales.
Just like that TV show did for BMW
Rolling Eyes

true, but the manufacturers also get involved in the racing scene in order to move forward with new innovations / prototypes / technology on their 'works / factory' bikes prior to deciding whether to implement these products/changes into the production bikes - racing is almost a 'live' test bed.

Im jealous, I so want one.

And I know I'll prefer it to the BM, cause I hate boxer twins with shaft drive!
