needing a wee bit of help please :(

Hey guys, i bought an sv650s yesterday T reg, 99 model. everything was good riding home, out and about on it for a bit all good. drove it to work again all good. but i got in the rain earler, about half an hour ago and the bike went all funny. smoke started coming from it and it just wouldnt accelerate properly. i had to ride it high revs all the way home to stop it cutting out and it was also back firing and riding quite jerky, when i pulled over i put the choke back on a bit and started it, but still cut out untill i put the choke on near full, but even at that it was still sounding terrible and back firing a bit. theres also a clicking like noise coming from near the choke. anyone any ideas? or know whats wrong

Sounds like water got in the electrics. Try starting it again once it has had time to dry out properly. If it starts and runs ok, then you might want to give the electrics, particularly the coils, a good blast of water dispersant like WD40 or similar.

i did mate, he said he hasnt had anything like it before, i have the full service history and its only done 17800 miles. i drove through light rain yesterday and it was fine, just because i sat mostly idle in quite heavy rain and hail, and thats when it happened
