Well, picked her up this morning, filled the tank and went for a nice ride out in Essex, first imressions, wow what a difference to the Divvy. Very comfy, quite a lot of pull acceleration wise and overall a very smooth ride. Glad its got the double bubble screen hardly felt any wind at all, mirrors need extenders as theres a lot of my elbow in the way but I gather this is well known, more importantly this is the right bike for me, power is spot on, weight perfect and it handles really well, I'm not a really fast rider but at national speed limits or thereabouts I'm happy with the BT021 tyres currently fitted, loads of grip and nice feedback. Good riding position with a nice view all round, seems quite frugal on the go go juice, half a tank according to the gauge and 110 miles covered, will be interesting to see how accurate it is when I have to fill her up again. Fuel injection certainly makes a difference, everything is so instant, this bike has definatley confirmed that I personaly prefer a twin to an inline four, even the sound is sweet, may invest in a bewolf can later to improve on it. So all in all Paul is a happy bunny, got home grabbed a coffee and then re-routed the wiring for the heated grips and 12v socket as it wasn't the neatest of jobs, wired in my sat nav cradle, lubed and checked the chain before putting her to bed for the night. Looking forward to getting back out on her Monday even though I'll only be going to work. Very Happy

Today, on my earlier model ER6f which doesn't have a fuel gauge, the low level fuel light came on somewhere between 150 & 160 miles. Can't remember how much fuel is in the tank at that point but I'm sure it's up towards a gallon.

Sounds like you had a fab first day on your new machine. Good first ride review. Thumbs Up

What is it that you prefer about the parallel twin as opposed to the inline four?

I think its the sound for one, the 4 is more of a screamer with quick pick up in the higher rev range where the twin has more quick pickup lower down and has a deeper rumble sound. Overall it seems to suit my style of riding a lot better, the fact that its a lot newer bike is a major factor I suppose, glad I went with the divvy first though as I've learnt a lot on it and its served me well.

I've only ridden an old twin, maybe I should try a more modern one at some point and see how I get on.

Enjoy your ride!
