In some ways I should have kept quiet about being muslim, since it seems a talking point when I make a thread. :p
But I can see you aren't trying to offend me so I shall answer.
Muslim's shouldn't have pictures of people in general I believe, well at least from back in the time of Muhammad because we worship God, not a person.
Now, being offended is always how you interpret something I guess. If say, someone I knew called me a chink, I would be OK with it based on them just having a joke, but if it was a EDL guy, then I probably would get offended because his intention is to insult me.
I'll let you know when it happens I guess.

The Sun etc can say what they want about the Pope/ Priests etc with no consequences but start talking sht about the Muslims and you got yourself the Jihad on you Office Block..  sorry, i don't care f-all about religions but Muslims certainly don't themselves any favours in the popularity stakes... any religion that promotes Jihad is fcuking retarded  |

I don't think I am insulting Islam or Jesus, I reposted a link and title. I have a sense of humour and found it funny, and after all, it is only a picture to me. It doesn't say anything bad about Jesus or anything. It's just a very bad restoration.
As for Jihad etc... tbh I have not met anyone who has told me to go and do it. The media like to pick out the people who talk about it, and it leads others to believe that we will go and become a terrorist or something. Heck even my own mother is suspicious...
If only certain sects of Christian's, like that family Louis Theroux went to see were shown on the news, then I am sure your perspective of Christian's would be different to perhaps the ones you know in real life. Maybe keep that in mind when you hear stories.

My comment was based on the assumption that what you did was offensive, but that doesn't mean it was offensive. As Jimmy Carr says, offence is taken, not given, so whether it is offensive or not depends on individual perspective. My personal view is that it's not offensive, because Gods and such don't exist, and because it's just an arrangement of pixels on screen. I am also strongly of the opinion that people should be able to express themselves as they wish.
In terms of problems with Islam, the whole Jihad thing doesn't rank that highly to me. We are, as you say, talking about an exceptionally small number of people. The real problems with Islam are lack of respect for the rights of others (freedom of expression, womens rights, gay rights etc), refusal to integrate into society and instead dividing communities into Islamic and non-Islamic, and the unsavoury elements of Sharia law (e.g stonings). |

Slightly on topic to my previous comment, but a lovely thread derail (that's what we do here right?) is this story about people being offended for the sake of it.
I don't understand why it makes any sense to punish someone for something God is going to punish them for anyway? I find in real life people who are insecure are offended by insults, but people who know its not true and are confident of its failsity couldn't care less. Does this mean Muslims are not really sure of their faith so need to be offended in order to forget about their worries that maybe God hates them (since they have the wrong one or w/e). https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-19311098 |
