Hi,
I have seen a trackday advertised with NoLimits for Donington in June (can't remember the exact day)

I am just wondering if anyone has ever done an evening trackday and if they're worthwhile or not? It'd be my first ever venture on track and I feel that for £55 it'd be a good introduction into the trackdaying world.

I kind of understand how trackdays work in theory as I've been to watch my uncle at a variety of different ones, but as always, I want to have a go myself now that I have my own bike - as I don't think he'd let me loan his R1 just yet!

I currently ride a 2001 Fazer 600 with Avon Storm ST Ultra 2 tyres on it. I was also wondering if these tyres would be suitable for the very occasional trackday (or at least my first trackday haha) obviously I would de-restrict my Fazer for the trackday, as 33bhp just isn't enough anymore Sad haha

Thanks in advance Thumbs Up

Some trackdays may not let your license type on track if your still inside your restriction period. Your bike and tires should all be fine aswell if you just take your time and let them warm properly. Wheen I did mine at Oulton a few weeks ago there were BMW GS1200 and Pan European 1100 going around the track aswell. My mate took a 400 DRZ mate so don't worry to much about if it will be quick enough. It will be down to you riding it tht makes the differance.

How long is the evening trackday because you might not get much time on track tbh, My full day from 9am - 4.30pm tracktime gave me seven 20 minute sessions. Just enjoy your day and focus on your confidence bit by bit rather than going all out to beat everything.

Thumbs Up

Your fazer will be fine, your tyres will be fine.

I've not done Donny - But I know that any of the MSV group tracks (Brands, Snett etc) don't allow 33bhp, so I'd check first. Donnington isn't MSV though, so phone them.

Get faster, slowly.

Thanks for both of your replies Smile

I have already checked out the licensing thing, and both nolimits and donington (and a couple of other tracks) allow 33bhp licence holders on Thumbs Up

As Garth said, it's the MSV tracks that don't allow 33bhp for some strange reason...when I asked why, they just replied with 'that's the rule'. It's a shame really as I like the look of Oulton and its only 30 miles away from me, whereas Donington is 45 :/ haha

Shane, I'll have to give them a ring anyway and ask them how many sessions they run in an evening trackday, although a couple is enough for my first venture i suppose Wink

Okay pal Smile You will catch 'the bug' after those few sessions. After I got home from my day I was already looking into more options and when you can you need to d Oulton, It's an amazing track Smile

The only issue with getting hooked is budget...or rather lack of it! haha I'll come home buzzing and instead of 'where can I go next?' it'll be when can I afford to do it again? Sad ahaha

I'll just have to give up drinking and going out to the town...I'm sure trackdays give a bigger buzz than that anyway? Wink

I'm in the Navy so drink was a big part of my life until I worked out how much I spent on it with the lads, equated to 2-3 trackdays a month Razz

Also since doing my TD I found that I just wanted to do it again so tha gives me something else to look forward to Smile

Ahaha I'm sure my drinking doesn't quite add up to that much, but I reckon a couple of evening trackdays a month easily Wink haha

Looks like I'm gonna have to bite the bullet and get one booked up Thumbs Up Hopefully, I'll enjoy it so much that I'll book up a full-day trackday towards the end of summer Very Happy
