Hi,

I'm considering getting leathers made up but I have a question. Can they be worn over trousers? I ask this because I'm not that interested unless I can use them for the ride to work. If they can't then I'll stick with my current textiles and just get a leather jacket.

Can you get made to measure textiles? I is quite tall (6'8") and am curious.

Cheers

Mark

I havnt heard of any made to measure textiles I am afraid and leathers are a good idea for ride outs! I can not get anything else under my leathers.

Why can't you wear leathers to work, no where to get changed?

I've got a 1 pce and a 2 pce, I use both sometimes, obviously not together, to ride to work. I manage to get changed in the cleanest toilet cubicle and carry my work clothes in a rucksack.

My last crash was on the way home from work and I'm glad I was fully armoured and leathered up.

I've been put off getting a full leather two piece because

A) My neatly ironed shirt and trousers will no longer be neatly ironed when I get changed in to them at work....which will probs get me a bolocking from management.

B) I can't get motorbike boots in my size (Big feet! size 15!) so I my leathers wouldn't look quite complete

I put my shirts in a rucksack, as long as you fold them fairly neatly they don't look to bad. They sort of look like you sat in a chair in them for 5 mins.

Looks like you can get these in a size 50 mate, that should be a UK 15.

Only had a quick look, but it looks like some Akitos come in that size too.

Edit - Looks like the Alpinestars GPS 3's come in a size 50 - 50.5.

Anywhere at work to hang clothes up? Cos then you can take a weeks worth in on the Monday.

I dare say you could get leathers over your suit, but it's a bit pointless cos they'd have to be a tad baggy, and leathers aren't really meant to be baggy.

No Probs mate, leathers and decent boots really are worth their weight in gold.

A mate of mine crashed wearing textiles, the abrasion resistance was good but he did a fair bit of damage to his arm and shoulder. It was only a low speed crash but the amour moved in the impact. Textiles seem to be baggier than a good set of leathers.

I've just checked the alpinestars website and they believe that euro 50 equates to US 14 which in turn is the same as UK 13. Unfortunately, I've now got boots on the brain so if Dainesefreak or anyone else hears about motorcycle boots in size UK 15 or US 16 then please let me know......there's a bag of Haribo Sour mix in it for you if you find some Very Happy Thumbs Up

Don't worry about it mate, took me a few attempts to get used to it, but if you go into the Testing part of the forum, you can practise as much as you want without hurting your karma (since no one will give your posts a bad rating there)

Good luck

Mark

I agree. Skinny has its advantages, but the knee armour does tend to drop, I've lost count of the number if times I've had to re-adjust them at the next set of lights! Sad

Thanks again D-Man, my current strategy is to send as many emails to as many manufacturers as I can.

Here is my current list : If anyone can suggest any manufacturers or large suppliers then please let me know and they will be added

I know it's probably too far, but I got all my stuff from Harpers in East London. They seemed pretty clued up, reasonable prices (cheaper if you buy online) and had loads of gear in stock.

They have a website: www.harpersraceshop.co.uk (no deliberate plug intended)

Leathers shouldn't be baggy!

If you come off and slide along the road, if your leathers move against your skin you will get bad burns and they won't do their job properly. Crying or Very sad

Leather should be tight and well fitting! Laughing

Can you not take a tankbag with a neatly folded pair of shirt and trousers in and where a leather suit?

Sorry if this has been mentioned I have no time for reading posts Wink

The tankbag idea had not been mentioned. It's worth considering.

Anyone know the website for Sidi boots?
