Actually had it a few weeks but it's been in bits since I got it. Back together now so thought I would share a few pics.

It was in bits because I've just replaced the fork seals (heavier 15w oil and a reduced air gap), put a part worn tyre on the front, new SBS Sintered pads (old ones were contaminated by leaking fork oil) and a chain & sprocket kit.

I wanted something for the Winter that had a fairing for protection from the elements (so not the Bandit) and that wouldn't spin up the back wheel and spit me down the road in the wet (so not the ZX12).

These A1Ps were the last model before the ZX6R got all small and cramped, they are a bit more roomy and comfortable. It's done a bit over 12k miles and rides really nicely, seems really small and light compared to the other two bikes.

I've always like that shape ZX6R (and the E1/E2 ZX9R) and yours looks very clean, how much did it set you back? I did keep an eye out for a ZX6R J1/J2/A1P when I was buying my GSXR, but a decent GSXR came up first.

Ooh, that looks really clean. You sure you want to destroy it via winter commute.

I always turn those funky R-pin efforts through 45 degrees on my kwakka so that they're around the castleated doobrey. Not sure if I'm doing right mind.

It looks lovely and clean (too clean for a winter bike?) in the pics, and even the thin paint on the wheels looks good too!

I loved my J1 10years ago, and it was a great bike to ride, and pretty comfy too.

They look so big and very sports tourer from the riding position, and the size of the fairing and seat on them now, but I'd have no interest in cramping myself up on a new R6 or similar.

After spending a few hundred sorting it out, it still worked out as a cheap enough bike that I don't mind riding it in the winter. A decent coat of ACF50 will help, but if the weather keeps on like this then there won't be much salt on the roads. I work from home and don't commute, but I do a 120 mile round trip once a week on a bike. It shouldn't suffer too much.

The R clips I always leave like that. You can turn them flush with the swingarm but it stretches the clip and opens it up a bit. Haven't ever had an issue with them catching anything.

That looks clean! Shocked

My J1 was probably the best allround bike I've had.

Be careful when doing oil changes and make sure you utilise the gallery hole up in/near the cylinder head otherwise theyre liable to not regain pressure after a change leading to bearing failure.

Another cosseted, garaged, dry miles only bike finds it's way into your possession.

Gotta look at a whole load of sheds and lemons until you get there though. I have also gotten fussier with age. This one needed a bit of work, all mechanical and relatively simple if you have the time and knowledge.
