Hello!

I'm new here so don't be angry if you have answered on my questions before (I didn't find anything useful with the "search" button).
I own a NSR 125 R (2001) for over two years now. It's fully derestricted and tops at about 100 mph and has 6 seconds from 0 to 60.

I am thinking of lowering the cylinder head, and I need to know if anybody had done this kind of thing before, because I don't know for how much 0.*mm can I "shave".

Hi,

TBH I wouldn't bother. The tiny performance gains would not be worth the decrease in reliability.

How much you can take off depends on how much you've got to start with.

The std clearance is prob 1.4/5mm, while production tolerances can be upto 2mm.

1mm clearance is a good size to aim for, while they can run 0.8mm on stock gas.

You need to find out the squish clearance and the type of head gasket.
