I sent cv's to all the local main dealers and got 2 job offers. They'll then pay for you to go on a training course with a manafactur.

Harass all your local, and not so local dealers....

Say that you will work for peanuts if they'll train you. If they have some old and good spanner men you will learn faster and much much more useful stuff than any course will teach. I worked for a shop near me for a gap year before i started a new course at university. I started off with basic knowledge and by 8 months in i was rebuilding engines, working on my own and still learning loads at a time. It is by far the best way to learn. Just don't expect to get paid much - learning is all, earning comes later. I was paid about £140 pew week for a 40hr week (not including an hour and a half of commuting every day) (£3.50 per hour) and it was hard work. However I learned so much - I am building a bike now with no worries and i doubt I will be paying for anyone to work on my bike for a few years!

Good luck!

M.

There is a college course you can do for a start. Then maybe try for some kind of apprenticeship
